Students are always misplacing their items and this year was not an exception. But with these pencil cases and 2 pencils readily available in each case, students were always prepared. \r\n\r\nNot only did it create a classroom norm for them to come in and grab their pencil case but it also made finding materials easy for substitute teachers. \r\n\r\nThere is no longer an excuse for students not to do their work and they no longer feel embarrassed when they dont have a writing utensil. They have come to me pointing out different aspects of their cultures within the pages.\r\n\r\nWe have used the books to look fpr imagery and descriptive language. Which, these books were filled with descriptive language. The images within the pages were either familiar and relateable or different and interesting. Not only that, it also gave them different perspectives to think about and it has sparked many conversations.\r\n\r\nMy classroom library lacked new quality books. I had books that I had inherited from previous teachers who left their items behind. The wear and tear of those books were visible and students tended to avoid them.
