Because of your support, my students were able to experience literature in a way that was engaging, collaborative, and unforgettable.\r\n\r\nReceiving a class set of Percy Jackson and the Olympians novels allowed every student to fully participate in our shared reading experience. As we followed Percy on his adventures, students explored Greek mythology while making meaningful connections to themes, characters, and literary elements in our English Language Arts curriculum.\r\n\r\nThe novels also became a gateway to expanding students' vocabulary. Through our study of Greek myths, we introduced Greek root words and etymology, helping students recognize how these roots appear in many English words they encounter every day. Students became excited to discover the origins of words and apply that knowledge to improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary.\r\n\r\nOne of the highlights of our unit was our \"Camp Half-Blood Games\" Day. Students worked together on teams, competed in mythology-inspired challenges, and demonstrated what they had learned in creative, hands-on ways. They encouraged one another, solved problems collaboratively, and took pride in representing their cabins. The event transformed our classroom into an immersive learning experience that students will remember long after the unit has ended.\r\n\r\nYour generosity provided so much more than books. You gave my students the opportunity to fall in love with reading, explore ancient mythology, build stronger vocabulary skills, and experience the joy of learning together. Thank you for investing in our classroom and for helping create meaningful memories that inspired curiosity, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for literature.","fullyFundedDate":1773885656221,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-heroes-begin-their-quest/10154452/","projectTitle":"Help Our Heroes Begin Their Quest!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marable","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9560494_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737351991222","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9560494"},{"teacherId":583012,"projectId":7647991,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our Mindfulness and Movement project! Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference in my second-grade classroom. We use the new resources every day to help students reset their minds and bodies before learning, after transitions, and whenever they need a moment to refocus. Whether we're taking a mindful breathing break, stretching between lessons, or using movement activities to boost energy, these resources have become an important part of our daily routine.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were so excited! They couldn't wait to try the movement activities and were eager to participate. It didn't take long for them to realize that these brain breaks weren't just fun—they helped them feel calmer, more focused, and ready to learn. I've already noticed students returning to their work with better concentration, and our classroom has become a more positive and supportive learning environment.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we'll keep incorporating mindfulness and movement into our literacy, math, and small-group instruction. My students' eyes lit up as we unpacked the new math manipulatives, and they couldn't wait to get their hands on them. The small cup counters quickly became a class favorite. We used them to explore division strategies, and it was amazing to watch lightbulb moments happen around the room. Students who once felt unsure about division were suddenly able to see and understand the process in a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came during a small group lesson where students practiced dividing counters into equal groups. A student who had been struggling with division suddenly exclaimed, \"Oh, I get it now!\" That joy and confidence spread to others at the table, and the room filled with energy as students proudly shared their solutions. These tools have not only strengthened their math skills but also boosted their confidence and excitement for learning.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, my students will continue using these manipulatives to deepen their understanding of multiplication, division, and fractions.
