They have been so wonderful in allowing my students to explore their artistic abilities using acrylic paint as a medium. \r\n\r\nWith this project, and future projects using this paint, we explore mixing and blending white with other colors to show depth in their artwork. This helps to show dimension and more than just a 2d painting. A lot of students were surprised with how well white can help show dimension. It was awesome to see them try it for themselves. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1756921597442,"projectUrl":"project/art-supplies-needed-for-title-1-4th-g/9361126/","projectTitle":"Art Supplies Needed for Title 1 - 4th Grade Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Leavitt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9301985"},{"teacherId":6610213,"projectId":8666619,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generous donations! When students learned they would be having a glow in the dark PE unit and reward day, excitement filled the room. The uuhs and aahs heard as students entering the gym were heard throughout the building. Then when the lights were turned off and everything neon or white decorated along the walls, our posters, and their clothing began to glow, the oooooooh coming from every student rumbled through the walls!\r\n\r\nThis small piece of technology has helped students gain a boost in self-esteem to try other things because now the focus is on the object glowing and not on themselves when others see them attempting something new, such as throwing scarves to practice hand-eye coordination or juggling two scarves or three tennis balls. Some of those less risk takers gained confidence in trying new things. \r\n\r\nWe heard of other schools using black lights for obstacle courses used in PE class. I've never had the opportunity until someone loaned me one to try and see what equipment I have that glows in the dark. This was something exciting to try and use as a reward system for my existing management techniques. So now, instead of just getting a PE reward day where they can choose an activity and choose the equipment, they can now also earn a glow in the dark reward day!\r\n\r\nEvery student has warmed to this new technology because it's new and they have never, just a few, been to a glow in the dark event. Some have heard about it or gone to a birthday party at a restaurant and saw or got to try for a little bit but want to have that experience. Since this is available each month as a reward, some students have turned their choices into better ones in respect, responsibility, safety, and kindness with others so that they can be part of the reward on that special day. \r\n\r\nMy students who use wheelchairs love this piece of technology too because their chairs take on a whole new look! One student decorated his wheelchair with neon, and we could see them rolling along with a huge smile on their face! \r\n\r\nThank you wonderful people for giving to my project and bringing a smile to every student I see.
