Through the character of Ralph, students can relate to the excitement of trying something new, taking risks, and learning responsibility. The story encourages empathy as students see the world through Ralph's eyes and reflect on friendship, honesty, and problem-solving. Its rich vocabulary and descriptive language also provide wonderful opportunities to strengthen reading comprehension and discussion skills at this grade level.\r\n\r\nIn addition, this book invites students to think about perspective and consequences in a developmentally appropriate way. As Ralph navigates his adventures, students can connect to their own lives, discuss character choices, and explore themes such as kindness, bravery, and accountability. These conversations help build both literacy skills and social-emotional understanding, making the story a powerful learning experience beyond just reading.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly thankful to have received a full class set of The Mouse and the Motorcycle. Having a book for every student allows us to read together and engage in meaningful group discussions while ensuring that all students feel included and excited to participate. This opportunity will greatly enhance our reading instruction, and we are truly grateful for the support that made this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768161613055,"projectUrl":"project/reading-is-powerful/9999069/","projectTitle":"Reading is Powerful","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Redmon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10400025"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30363","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":392,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"20.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":95.0,"schoolId":30363,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Washington Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Washington Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/charter-oak-unified-school-district/washington-elementary-school/30363"}
