The light table is in use every day as an exploration center in our room, enhancing our work with shapes, numbers and letters, and adds an interesting dimension when building structures with various blocks. Later in the year we will incorporate the light table into our unit about light and shadows, as well as other explorations. The possibilities are endless.\r\n\r\nWe have totally embraced the Chompsaw as a vital tool in our Maker Space. Donning ear protection and safety glasses, students have each had early opportunities to cut cardboard into straight and curved pieces, and we've incorporated other cardboard tools (connectors) to construct letters of the alphabet. Soon we will design and cut cardboard trees, be challenged to make them stand upright, and create a forest habitat for our animal unit!\r\n\r\nHere are some testimonials by the children, on how these tools help in their learning:\r\n\r\nLight Table\r\n\r\n\"We can practice numbers and words on the light table.\"\r\n\r\n\"When I build with the magnet blocks, the light shows through and it looks cool!\"\r\n\r\n\"This is a fun place to work.\"\r\n\r\nChomp Saw\r\n\r\n\"It helps us cut so we can make anything!\"\r\n\r\n\"I can use a real tool!\"\r\n\r\n\"This is awesome!\"\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe tools you provided for our classroom will reach farther than our group. We partner with a second-grade classroom once a month for STEM challenges and we are eager to share our new tools with our older buddies. There are also two other Kindergarten classrooms in our building, and we will share our Chompsaw with them for some cardboard creations. I look forward to seeing my students as mentors to those new to the tool!\r\n\r\nI am so very grateful for the generosity of the donors to my project. You have contributed to meaningful learning experiences for many children, and we all thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1757545619712,"projectUrl":"project/kindergarten-stem-tools/9657192/","projectTitle":"Kindergarten STEM Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10227841"},{"teacherId":6601484,"projectId":9285723,"letterContent":"I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you so much for donating to our Donor's Choose classroom project. They now each have their own personal space to help keep them organized. They have been using their mailbox to be accountable for putting their own assignments into their take-home folders. Taking ownership of their items is such an important way to learn and practice the self-help skills they need to be independent and successful.","fullyFundedDate":1746722086922,"projectUrl":"project/student-mailboxes/9285723/","projectTitle":"Student Mailboxes!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Overlock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6601484_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x255,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1574263717620","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6601484"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_65448","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":304,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"10.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":65448,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Warren Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Warren Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maine/rsu-40-msad-40/warren-community-school/65448"}
