My students are using these robotics kits to explore programming, mechanical design, and develop their problem solving skills. Specifically, my students are working on both autonomous and remote-controlled robot projects and a warehouse simulation project.\r\nWhen the students saw the kits, which enabled each of them to have their own robot kit to work on they were extremely excited and ready to get started.\r\n\r\nWe will use these kits throughout the year and especially as we get ready for the STEAM Fair in the Spring as well as the regional robotics contest that we host here at the high school. For those events the students will showcase their coding, building, and strategy / teamwork skills in front of their peers and parents. I took a chance choosing this first novel for my students, as I wasn't sure how they would like it, but they quickly latched on to the novel. \r\n\r\nInitially, I was limited with how many copies I could use in class, but because of your donation, I was able to have a better variety of activities and allow more students to read outside of class - the sheer fact that students want to read on their own is a joy, and I was able to meet their request!\r\n\r\nThough we have finished this novel, my students still talk about the novel and make references to what we are reading now with The House of the Scorpion. My lessons are now more interactive and analytical because of these resources. \r\n\r\nThe first time I got out the transparent sticky notes to use in a reading, my students were curious and excited because they'd never seen transparent sticky notes before - it may not seem like a big deal, but this small element of novelty made the lesson exciting for them. In addition to their own, individual analysis, I have designed more activities where students (literally) layer their thinking with other students' using sticky notes. They are now interacting in new ways with others' thinking, which is the foundation of building more empathy.\r\n\r\nI have been so thrilled with these resources, and I will continue to use them throughout the year on a weekly, if not daily, basis.
