I've noticed that this part of the course is often one of the most challenging for them, as understanding the roles and structures of organelles can be a complex and abstract idea.\r\n\r\nHowever, after doing the assignment where they matched sweets to the organelles, I saw a remarkable improvement. It was so great to see how much fun they had while learning, and it really resonated with them. Using sweets to represent the different organelles made the concept more tangible and memorable, allowing the students to make connections that were not only educational but also enjoyable. This hands-on activity helped them visualize the organelles' roles and structures in a way that made sense to them.\r\n\r\nThe students seemed more confident and had a much deeper understanding of the material. It was amazing to watch their proficiency increase in such a fun, creative way. I really think the activity helped them to break through the difficulty they were facing with the topic, and I can already see the positive impact on their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you again for being part of this. Your support and creativity helped make a complex topic more accessible and enjoyable for the students, and I'm excited to see how it continues to benefit them.","fullyFundedDate":1733233975072,"projectUrl":"project/sweet-science-exploring-osmosis-dna-a/8937982/","projectTitle":"Sweet Science: Exploring Osmosis, DNA, and Cells with Candy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Andrews Barfield","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5967167_orig.jpg?crop=2046,2046,x0,y190&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690852810569","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-andrewsbarfield"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2224","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1197,"numTeachers":66,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":66.2,"schoolId":2224,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Walter M Williams High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Walter M Williams High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/alamance-burlington-school-system/walter-m-williams-high-school/2224"}
