Because of you, my students are doing something that simply wasn't possible before — and watching them discover it has been one of the highlights of my teaching year.\r\n\r\nThis grant allowed us to purchase a variety of specialized scissors, and the difference they've made is immediate and tangible. Right now, my high school students are learning Kinusaiga — a traditional Japanese art form in which fabric is carefully cut and pressed into carved grooves to create stunning, textile-based images. The precision this craft demands means the right tools aren't just helpful, they're essential. Before this grant, we didn't have what we needed to attempt a project like this at all. Now, my students are doing it — and doing it beautifully.\r\n\r\nThe day the scissors arrived, students were genuinely surprised. I don't think they expected to receive professional-quality tools, and you could see the shift in how they approached their work. They held the scissors carefully, tested the blades, and got to work with a focus and seriousness that told me they understood: these were real tools for real art.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the scissors will continue to open new doors for our class. After completing their Kinusaiga pieces, students will move into embroidery and hand sewing projects — building a foundation of fiber arts skills that many of them will carry well beyond high school. Each project layers on the last, and your investment is woven into all of it.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing that fiber arts belongs in every school, and that our students deserve the tools to practice it with pride.","fullyFundedDate":1769524215969,"projectUrl":"project/cut-it-up/9893836/","projectTitle":"Cut it Up!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Roberts","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3973859_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y30&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753587636594","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/carrolltabart"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1899","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2022,"numTeachers":117,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.8,"schoolId":1899,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wake Forest High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wake Forest High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/wake-county-public-school-system/wake-forest-rolesville-high-school/1899"}
