We start our morning on our carpet doing our circle time where we share anything with our classmates. Then, we do our language arts & math instruction here. So, organization was KEY in ensuring students knew which materials to grab according to their grade level. The green and blue bins have come in handy for doing just that. My Kindergarteners now know that anything in green bin is for them and my first graders know that anything in blue bins is for them. So, visually it has helped students be more independent in my classroom and it's easy to spot.\r\n\r\nThe clear bins I've been utilizing for various things like storing my students' writing paper and different centers materials. Since the bins are clear students can see what they need and grab that bin. Also, it's nice that the bins have covers on them which makes them stackable which allows me to maximize my space.\r\n\r\nThe little clear bins I used this past week as Kindergarteners have been practicing their 1:1 correspondence and representing the quantity of numbers. So, they were grouped into pairs to 'complete the recipe' and used the bins to put their 'ingredients' in.\r\n\r\nThe students have been preparing their book bags to take home when they return from break and will be taking those books home to enjoy and practice. Then, they will switch the books out once a week. They wanted to use it right away! The first week we just explored the water and used some fishing water toys and scoopers to see how we can interact with the materials.\r\nWe then tried a mystery water play where the water was cloudy and you couldn't see the objects inside. Our Kindergarteners have been learning about their 5 senses. So, they needed to explore the water by using their sense of touch to try and figure out what the object that they felt under water were before pulling out of the water to see if they were correct or not. Students were hesitant to stick their hands in at first, but quickly was engaged as they started pulling objects out.\r\nWe've been using the water table to explore water for now. However, in the future I would like to also use it as a sensory station to explore different objects and activities.
