These stories have quickly become some of the most loved parts of our classroom. My children get so excited when they recognize familiar characters, join in on repeated lines, and act out favorite parts of the story. They especially love the playful humor and interaction in books by Mo Willems and Eric Litwin, and it has been so special to hear them laugh together, call out repeated phrases, and eagerly predict what might happen next. Classic stories like The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff have also inspired wonderful dramatic play, storytelling, and retelling. I have watched children use puppets, blocks, and their own voices to recreate the stories, take on different character roles, and work together to tell the story in their own way.\r\n\r\nThe feelings books have been just as meaningful in our classroom. The dinosaur feelings books have helped my children talk about emotions in ways that feel safe, simple, and relatable. I have seen children point to the characters and say things like, \"He looks frustrated,\" or \"She feels sad like me,\" which has opened the door to important conversations about feelings, empathy, and how we can care for one another. These books have supported my children as they learn to listen, communicate, solve problems, and understand both their own emotions and the feelings of others. Because of your generosity, our classroom has become a place where stories are not just read, but truly experienced through laughter, movement, conversation, imagination, and connection. Even though our school is currently on summer break, I have already seen what a special difference this carpet is going to make for my children. One of my returning prekindergarten children recently came to visit our classroom, and he was immediately drawn to the carpet. He picked out some blocks, sat right down, and began building happily in the middle of the carpet as if it had always been part of our classroom. He was so comfortable there, completely engaged in his play, and it was wonderful to watch him enjoy the space so naturally. What really touched my heart was when he told me he was going to have so much fun playing and learning there with his friends. In that moment, I could already picture the carpet surrounded by children building together, listening to stories, singing songs, and sharing all of the joyful moments that make a preschool classroom feel like a little community.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create so much more than a classroom rug. You have helped create a warm, welcoming place where my children will gather each day for morning meetings, read-alouds, conversations, hands-on learning, and creative block building. For young children, a space like this becomes part of how they feel safe, connected, and ready to learn. Knowing that all of my children will come back to a classroom with this beautiful carpet waiting for them means so much to me, and I know it will mean so much to them too. Because of your kindness and generosity, our classroom now has an incredible resource that has transformed the way students experience reading and learning.\r\n\r\nThe new TV has quickly become one of the most valuable tools in our classroom. It allows us to display digital books on a large screen so every student can easily follow along as we read together. Students are more engaged during read-alouds because they can see the illustrations, track the words, and participate in discussions with greater confidence. For many of our emerging readers, seeing the text while hearing it read aloud has strengthened their vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.\r\n\r\nBeyond story time, the TV has opened the door to interactive literacy activities that make learning both meaningful and fun. We use it to explore phonics games, practice sight words, watch author read-alouds, and build background knowledge through educational videos that connect to the books we are reading. These experiences help bring stories to life and inspire students to become enthusiastic readers.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the greatest impact has been on our students' excitement for literacy. They eagerly gather for reading lessons, ask thoughtful questions, and are more willing to take risks as readers. The technology has created opportunities for collaboration, discussion, and joyful learning that simply were not possible before.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided much more than a television—it has created opportunities for growth, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading. Every time our students gather around the screen to share a story, they are benefiting from your compassion and belief in their potential.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our entire classroom, thank you for investing in our students and helping us create engaging literacy experiences that will have a lasting impact. Many of our children have never had the opportunity to travel beyond our island. While their physical world may be limited by geography, books give them something extraordinary—the chance to explore places, cultures, ideas, and experiences far beyond their everyday surroundings.\r\n\r\nThese books are more than just reading materials; they are passports to new worlds. Through their pages, students can visit distant countries, learn about different ways of life, and experience adventures they may never have imagined. They can walk alongside historical figures, explore scientific discoveries, and see life through the eyes of people whose experiences differ greatly from their own. Every book opens a door to new possibilities and expands their understanding of the world.\r\n\r\nReading also encourages students to think critically and challenge their assumptions. As they encounter new perspectives and ideas, they learn to question, analyze, and reflect. Books help foster empathy by allowing students to connect with characters and experiences outside of their own lives. These opportunities help them develop into thoughtful, compassionate, and open-minded individuals.\r\n\r\nThe impact extends beyond academics. Access to engaging books nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Students begin to see that their dreams are not limited by where they live. They discover new interests, develop a love of learning, and gain the confidence to imagine futures that may have once seemed out of reach.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is providing much more than books. You are giving students the opportunity to mentally travel beyond the shores of our island, broaden their horizons, and explore a world filled with possibilities. You are helping them build knowledge, develop empathy, and dream bigger. Most importantly, you are showing them that learning has no boundaries and that their potential is limitless.
