With your generous donation, students have been given a place to express themselves, knowing it is okay to make mistakes. The beauty of the whiteboards and dry erase markers is that they allow students flexibility their thinking. If one idea does not work, students are quickly able to erase it and try something else. The dry erase sticky notes, give students the chance to comment on each others work more easily.\r\n\r\nThe level and intensity of conversation has also greatly improved. We recently had a visit from about twenty school officials including superintendents, curricula leads and coaches. They were thrilled to see students talking to each other, and about math at that. One school official commented on how much joy they see in my classroom.\r\n\r\nSo I say thank you again for changing the way my students view their math classroom experience. They no longer think they should work independently and in silence at their desk. My students are more freely expressing their ideas, wrong or right.","fullyFundedDate":1734449913919,"projectUrl":"project/create-a-thinking-math-classroom/8729423/","projectTitle":"Create a Thinking Math Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Quinn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3700783"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_218","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":319,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":40,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":52,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.4,"schoolId":218,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wadleigh Performing Arts High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wadleigh Performing Arts High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/wadleigh-performing-arts-high-school/218"}
