One special moment that stood out was when students worked in pairs to read and share the materials with each other. The activity became much more interactive, as students listened to their classmates and supported one another. This experience truly improved collaboration in the classroom and encouraged students to read with more confidence in front of their peers. It has been wonderful to see them so engaged and excited about learning new words together.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were very excited and full of curiosity about learning with something new. They were also very careful and made sure to ask questions before using them. Their happiness made our language centers even more enjoyable, and now they eagerly look forward to this day each week to work and share with their classmates.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next steps for my students are to continue using these materials to expand their vocabulary and begin building sentences, which is our new class project. They will keep working together in pairs and small groups to practice and share their ideas. We will also take time to reflect on what they are learning and set simple goals. These resources will continue to support their growth, helping them feel more confident and independent.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for these materials and the positive impact they have had on our classroom. It truly felt like Christmas morning when we opened the boxes!\r\n\r\nWe use many of the supplies several times a week, and some items we use every single day. The word activities, in particular, have become a favorite—we use them almost daily in our small groups. The kids are always asking to play the \"one word\" game, and even when I jokingly ask, \"Aren't you tired of that yet?!?\" they never are!\r\n\r\nThe laminating sheets have also been incredibly helpful—I've been able to create flashcards for them to practice their words, which they use all the time.\r\n\r\nWe've also been using the clay for projects and indoor recess, and they were SO excited when I introduced it! With such a cold winter and so many indoor recess days, it quickly became a go-to activity.\r\n\r\nIt's funny because when we play these \"games,\" the kids don't even realize they're working—they're learning, growing, and having fun all at the same time. These resources are already making a world of difference, offering my children new ways to express themselves, role-play real-life scenarios, and build empathy through imaginative play.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these materials extends far beyond the playroom. By seeing themselves and their families reflected in both the stories we read and the figures they play with, my students are developing a stronger sense of belonging and confidence. Students can easily clip a story element graphic organizer onto their clipboard to follow the story as I read. We tried journals but the bend in the journal made it difficult to manage two moving parts as they wrote. The clipboards helped my first graders have only one thing to keep still as they wrote.\r\n\r\nThe clear binder sleeves have also been very helpful. These new seating choices have already made a meaningful difference in our learning environment.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating allows students to choose a space where they feel comfortable and focused while learning Spanish. Some students prefer to sit on a cushion on the floor while working with a partner, while others like using the inflatable seats at their desks to help them stay engaged and active. Having these options has helped students feel more relaxed, motivated, and ready to participate.\r\n\r\nSince introducing the new seating, I have noticed that students are more eager to join discussions, practice speaking Spanish with classmates, and stay focused during activities. The ability to move and choose a comfortable spot helps them take ownership of their learning and creates a more positive classroom atmosphere.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a classroom where students feel comfortable, included, and excited to learn. The headphones have allowed students to listen to books more than once to increase their understanding of a text. In addition, students are able to use the headphones for our state testing. From the very moment the boxes arrived, the excitement was contagious. My students were buzzing with curiosity, asking questions, and eagerly waiting to see what treasures were inside. Simply seeing the boxes stacked in the room sparked joy, and when I began unboxing everything, their faces lit up in a way I will never forget. It honestly felt like watching your own child on Christmas morning—pure excitement, wonder, and gratitude all wrapped into one moment. That joy alone reminded me why these kinds of donations matter so deeply.\r\n\r\nEach item donated has found a meaningful place in our daily classroom routine. One of the students' absolute favorites has been the multiplication Jenga game. It has quickly become a go-to rotation during small group instruction. Not only does it make practicing multiplication facts fun and engaging, but it also encourages collaboration, problem-solving, and positive peer interaction. Students who may normally feel intimidated by math are more willing to participate when learning feels like a game rather than a worksheet.\r\n\r\nThe classroom cushions have also made a significant difference. My students love using them for reading time or simply as flexible seating throughout the day. Having comfortable options allows students to choose what helps them focus best, which has led to increased engagement and calmer transitions. Some students read more willingly when they are comfortable, and others benefit from having a designated space where they feel relaxed and safe.\r\n\r\nThe letter-kit has been an incredible resource for my lower-level readers. It has given them hands-on support that helps bridge gaps in their learning and build confidence. Being able to physically manipulate letters helps reinforce phonics skills in a way that traditional instruction alone cannot. Watching these students experience success and growth has been one of the most rewarding outcomes of the donations.\r\n\r\nOf course, the pencils and erasers have been a huge hit as well. As any teacher knows, these items mysteriously disappear on a daily basis. Having an ample supply means less stress, fewer interruptions, and more time spent learning instead of searching for materials. Similarly, the Expo markers have allowed me to give each student their own, ensuring they are always readily available for quick practice problems, checks for understanding, and spontaneous learning moments.\r\n\r\nThe privacy boards have been extremely helpful during testing and independent work times. They provide students with a sense of focus and security, helping them concentrate without distractions. For some students, simply having their own space makes a noticeable difference in their confidence and performance.\r\n\r\nAdditional materials such as the magnetic notebook paper, Legos, magnetic timer for the board, six-pack of timers, multiplication bingo, silent fidgets, and games like Connect 4 have further enriched our classroom environment. The silent fidgets have been especially helpful for students who need support calming their bodies while remaining engaged in learning. The timers and magnetic tools help keep lessons structured and clear, while the games and Legos promote problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, these donations have lifted a tremendous weight off my shoulders. They have allowed me to better meet the diverse needs of my students and create a classroom environment that is engaging, supportive, and joyful. More importantly, they have shown my students that there are people who care deeply about their education and their success. That message alone is powerful, lasting, and truly priceless.","fullyFundedDate":1761923708389,"projectUrl":"project/exciting-and-engaged-through-reading-gam/9862175/","projectTitle":"Exciting and Engaged Through Reading Games and Manipulatives","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10334603"},{"teacherId":10334674,"projectId":9862239,"letterContent":"We are so thankful for all of your donations and funding our project! The Scholastic Magazines, learning games, and diverse books were great additions to supplement our reading and writing block.\r\n\r\nThe Scholastic Magazines are very enriching in the classroom and are used in many different ways. For instance, as seen in the photos, my fifth grade students have been working on an informational unit on ecosystems and we were able to read an article about bringing back extinct animals. They learned the impacts of what that would do to their ecosystems and use that to help understand the importance of the food chain in their ecosystem. We also debated our thoughts on whether we would want to bring back extinct animals and why, citing text evidence. This leads to a real world discussion, that helps with vocabulary and explaining answers.\r\n\r\nOur classroom library has been vastly revamped with the new additions sent by your generous donations. Since I am a Spanish Immersion classroom, we have a variety of readers and learners. Books like \"The Wild Robot\" and \"The Book Thief\" provide engaging higher level concepts that challenge students while the graphic novels \"Basic Witch\" and \"Four Eyes\" provide a different type of reading challenge as it is a diferent format. Students have really enjoyed reading these books and discussing them with one another.\r\n\r\nAgain, we are so very lucky to have the support of your donations and we will be better readers and learners as a result!","fullyFundedDate":1761923708649,"projectUrl":"project/expanding-the-world-around-through-texts/9862239/","projectTitle":"Expanding the World Around through Texts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Siok","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10334674"},{"teacherId":9278979,"projectId":9383571,"letterContent":"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my classroom and believing in my students. Your generosity means more than words can fully express, and I want you to know how deeply grateful we are for your kindness and commitment to education. Because of you, our classroom will become a richer, more joyful, and more inspiring place for learning every single day.\r\nMy students are part of a Spanish dual immersion program in a low-income community. Every morning, they walk into our classroom with curiosity, resilience, and a genuine desire to learn—even when resources are limited. They work hard to build academic skills in two languages while also navigating challenges that many young children should not have to face so early in life. Your support sends them a powerful message: that their education matters, that their language and culture are valued, and that there are people beyond our classroom who believe in their potential.\r\nThe Spanish-language books included in this project are especially meaningful. These books are not just tools for building literacy skills; they are mirrors and windows. They allow my students to see themselves reflected in stories, characters, and experiences that honor their language and heritage. At the same time, they open windows into the rich diversity of Spanish-speaking countries, traditions, and cultures. Through these stories, students will expand their vocabulary, strengthen their reading comprehension, and develop a deeper sense of pride in who they are and where they come from. For many of my students, having access to high-quality books in Spanish is truly transformative.\r\nYour donation also helps us meet essential classroom needs that often go unseen but are critical for learning. Supplies like paper, pencils, and headphones may seem simple, but they play a huge role in supporting daily instruction. Headphones allow students to focus during listening activities and personalized learning time. Basic materials ensure that every child can fully participate, regardless of what they may or may not have access to at home. Because of you, no student will feel left out or unprepared.\r\nIn addition, the small motivational rewards included in this project will make a big difference in building a positive classroom environment. For young learners, encouragement goes a long way. These rewards help reinforce effort, perseverance, and positive behavior, reminding students that their hard work is seen and appreciated. They help create a classroom culture where students feel excited to learn, proud of their accomplishments, and motivated to keep growing.\r\nMost importantly, your generosity helps create a classroom filled with wonder, culture, and learning. It supports not only academic success, but also confidence, joy, and a lifelong love of learning. Because of you, my students will have access to opportunities that inspire them to dream bigger and believe in themselves.\r\nThank you for choosing to support my students and for being part of their educational journey.
