These materials give my students opportunities to explore colors, shapes, patterns, letters, numbers, and more in a fun and engaging way. The light table encourages students to observe closely, experiment, create, and learn through play while building important fine-motor, visual, and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nWith these materials in our classroom, I have been able to create engaging play-based learning experiences that connect directly to our academic goals. Students can practice letter and number recognition, sort and categorize objects, create patterns, explore shapes and symmetry, and work collaboratively with their classmates—all while learning through meaningful, hands-on play.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I purchased these materials out of my own pocket because I knew how valuable they would be for my students. I am so thankful to the donors who matched my donation and helped make it possible to expand these resources and continue providing my kindergarteners with engaging, hands-on learning opportunities. These resources give my students hands-on ways to identify and manage their emotions, practice calming strategies, and regulate their bodies when they are feeling overwhelmed or need a break. Kindergarten is such a big transition for young children, and having access to sensory tools allows students to develop independence while learning what strategies work best for them. The sensory toys also provide opportunities for purposeful play, exploration, and social-emotional learning throughout the day. Most importantly, these materials help create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. My students have been able to explore how plants grow by observing roots, stems, leaves, and the effects of water and light in a hands-on way. Instead of only learning about plants through books and pictures, students can watch the growing process happen right in front of them, make observations, ask questions, and see how their care and responsibility directly impact living things.\r\n\r\nHaving these materials has allowed me to create meaningful science experiences throughout the school year! Students practice counting and measuring plant growth, recording observations, learning new vocabulary, and working together to care for our garden. The hydroponic system has also encouraged curiosity, patience, responsibility, and teamwork as students take ownership of caring for our plants.","fullyFundedDate":1778287365656,"projectUrl":"project/hydroponic-gardens-in-k-1-science-learni/10262950/","projectTitle":"Hydroponic Gardens in K-1 Science Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haberberger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9926234_orig.png?crop=748,748,x499,y108&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764018675236","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mshinprimary"},{"teacherId":597705,"projectId":9682200,"letterContent":"Over the past few weeks, our K–2 students have absolutely loved exploring the new sensory tools you helped bring to our library. The clear bins make the materials easy for students to access, and it's been wonderful watching them choose the items that help them feel calm and ready to learn. The weighted pillows have become a favorite during read-alouds—students settle in with one on their lap and seem more grounded and focused as we share stories together. One student goes straight for the drip timer every single visit, and it has quickly become a comforting routine that helps them transition into library time with ease.\r\n\r\nI've noticed such a positive change in how students participate during media lessons. When they are using these quiet sensory tools—fidgets, tiles, wobble cushions, and more—they are more engaged, more attentive, and more confident. The tools allow them to self-regulate in ways that support their learning without disrupting their peers. It has been especially meaningful to watch even our most wiggly or anxious learners find comfort, settle in, and enjoy their time in the library.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our library has become a more welcoming and inclusive space for all students. These sensory supports are helping children develop the focus and calm they need to fully participate, discover new books, and enjoy being part of our library community. Thank you for helping us create a space where every child can feel comfortable, supported, and truly ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1760726648786,"projectUrl":"project/calm-minds-ready-to-learn/9682200/","projectTitle":"Calm Minds, Ready to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cuthbertson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp597705_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y285&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757003860756","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mcuthbertson"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2385","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":945,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":14,"percentAsian":48,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":28,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"21.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.5,"schoolId":2385,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about W.R.
