Because of your generosity, our classroom now includes accessible, high-interest books that support diverse reading needs—such as dyslexia-friendly fonts, engaging topics, and formats that help students read with greater confidence and success.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, reading has often felt frustrating or discouraging. This new library has changed that. Students are excited to choose books they can read and want to read. They are spending more time reading independently, sharing recommendations with peers, and beginning to see themselves as capable readers.\r\n\r\nYour support has done more than provide books—it has given my students dignity, confidence, and the message that their learning differences are valued and supported. You have helped create a safe, empowering space where students with dyslexia can grow, learn, and develop a love of reading at their own pace. Thank you for making such a meaningful impact on their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1753069275747,"projectUrl":"project/for-the-love-of-reading/9474272/","projectTitle":"For the Love of Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Spears","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3412276_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1452565474260","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kspears"},{"teacherId":7985041,"projectId":9089851,"letterContent":"We've been using the new bins, containers, and storage supplies to reorganize our costume closet from top to bottom. Previously, costumes were stored in random corners, making it stressful to find pieces during rehearsals. Now, students are sorting by category and production, labeling bins, and creating a system that saves time and keeps costumes in good condition. During a recent rehearsal, the actors were able to grab everything they needed in minutes—something that used to take half the class!\r\n\r\nThey were so excited to have a neat and organized system finally. Students took absolute ownership of the project, dividing tasks such as labeling, folding, and sorting. They loved that they were building something lasting for future productions, not just for their class this year.\r\n\r\nThe next step is putting our organized storage system into action for our upcoming plays. Students will now be responsible for checking costumes in and out, tracking what's been used, and keeping the bins in order. This builds responsibility and helps them learn the backstage process of running a show. It's laying the groundwork for a full student-run costume crew that will support all our productions going forward.","fullyFundedDate":1746787405249,"projectUrl":"project/the-taming-of-the-costume-closet/9089851/","projectTitle":"The Taming of the Costume Closet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Powell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7985041_orig.jpg?crop=1122,1122,x0,y246&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630385410439","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7985041"},{"teacherId":7985041,"projectId":9217231,"letterContent":"Our students utilized the new resources to delve into The Wiz, working as designers. They studied the Broadway production and movie, then created their own costume models, learning how professional theatre artists tell stories visually. These models were later showcased at the Music Hall during the Broadway production of The Wiz—a moment that allowed our students to see their classroom work celebrated on a professional stage.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were buzzing with excitement. For many, it was their first time working with real theatre design supplies and tools. They couldn't believe they would get to create models like \"real designers.\" When their work was displayed at the Music Hall, their pride was unmatched—several students said it was the first time they felt like true artists, with their ideas taken seriously by the larger theatre community.\r\n\r\nThe next step is applying what they learned from The Wiz project to our fall production and our UIL One Act Play competition. Students are now using their design skills to brainstorm costumes, props, and set ideas, while others are working on acting. These experiences are preparing them to not only perform but also understand the full scope of theatre production—helping them grow into well-rounded young artists who are confident in their creative voices.","fullyFundedDate":1746786942747,"projectUrl":"project/behind-the-seams/9217231/","projectTitle":"Behind the Seams","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Powell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7985041_orig.jpg?crop=1122,1122,x0,y246&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630385410439","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7985041"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16370","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1153,"numTeachers":102,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":91,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.9,"schoolId":16370,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about W.E.
