It has allowed me to work twice a week since Mid October to develop potential pitchers for the upcoming baseball season. I have been able to work with twelve different students and have seen great strides in developing the skills needed to pitch. Most of our players grow up in neighborhoods with no baseball programs for youth. Providing this opportunity in the off season is crucial for their success on the field. That first strike out is an empowering feeling and students learn the reward of discipline and hard work.\r\n\r\nMore importantly I have also used this to help my players to understand the importance of attendance and maintaining their grades. Developing close relationships with teens allows you to have a greater impact because they are more inclined to listen to your words of wisdom and encouragement. I have had 7 ninth graders that I will be able to mentor for the next four years. Your gift will enable them to build confidence on and off the field.","fullyFundedDate":1762431701401,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-baseball-to-urban-communities/9861097/","projectTitle":"Bringing Baseball to Urban Communities","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Peterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10333913"},{"teacherId":9827927,"projectId":9887133,"letterContent":"To the incredible supporters who made this project possible: you haven't just provided \"stuff\"—you've provided possibilities. Students are practicing proper feeding, safe handling, and habitat maintenance routines they'll need for careers in veterinary science, animal husbandry, and agricultural education.\r\nProject-based learning: We recently completed a week-long \"Health Check & Habitat Improvement\" project. Students performed routine health exams, recorded observations, and then designed and implemented habitat upgrades using the new materials. They created checklists, practiced restraint techniques, and documented before-and-after results for each animal's enclosure.\r\nCareer and leadership experiences: FFA members are using the closet to keep project materials organized for judging preparation and community outreach events. The availability of professional tools has helped students take on leadership roles — mentoring peers, running station rotations, and supervising volunteer time.\r\nA moment that mattered When we first opened the FFA closet and brought the new supplies into the lab, the students' reactions were immediate — excited, proud, and deeply engaged. One student who's been hesitant to work with animals stepped forward to lead a complete health check because the proper gloves and restraint tools helped them feel safe and confident. Seeing that student calmly hold and assess a guinea pig for the first time was a highlight for the whole class; several students said afterward that they felt more prepared to consider animal-care careers.","fullyFundedDate":1755705504994,"projectUrl":"project/ms-cullens-small-animal-science-class/9433795/","projectTitle":"Ms. Cullen's Small Animal Science Class/FFA Closet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cullen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9827927_orig.jpg?crop=1557,1557,x0,y436&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738641371865","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9827927"},{"teacherId":9827927,"projectId":9097189,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of biohazard containers, shovels, and other items. Thanks to your contributions, we have been able to provide our students with valuable resources that are truly making a difference in their learning experience. I'm excited to share with you the ways these new materials are being used in our classroom and the incredible impact they are having on my students.\r\n\r\nThe Dry Erase Pocket Sleeves and dry erase markers have become essential tools in our daily learning activities. These resources are versatile and have helped us create an interactive, engaging environment. For example, during our recent unit on pasture management, the students used the dry erase sleeves to complete activities related to Penn State Extension's Four Steps to Rotational Grazing. This allowed them to visualize and work through the process of redesigning pastures. By applying these concepts, students were able to plan more efficient and sustainable pastures for our dairy cattle, sheep, and horses, making a real-world connection to their studies. It has been amazing to see them take ownership of this project and apply their learning to real agricultural practices.\r\n\r\nThe safety glasses you provided have made a significant impact on ensuring the safety and well-being of my students during hands-on activities. In our classroom, students regularly work with live animals, including our sheep. With the proper personal protective equipment (PPE), students were able to safely engage in essential tasks like trimming the hooves of the sheep. The safety glasses helped instill a sense of responsibility and professionalism, teaching students how to maintain a safe learning environment while performing critical hands-on work.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the rope and halter have been instrumental in supporting our students' social-emotional learning. These tools have allowed students to build trust and engage in meaningful interactions with our sheep. Working hands-on with the animals has helped students develop their communication skills, patience, and empathy. Through training the sheep, students have learned how to manage their emotions, especially when faced with challenges. This experience has provided them with valuable life skills that extend beyond the classroom and into their personal development.\r\n\r\nOverall, the resources you helped fund have had an incredible impact on my students' learning. Not only have they enhanced their academic understanding, but they've also contributed to their personal growth. Your support has allowed my students to experience learning in a way that is both practical and enriching, setting them up for future success.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity. The difference you've made is truly profound, and I am incredibly grateful for your commitment to helping our classroom thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1735612623766,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-learning-with-ms-turre/8925621/","projectTitle":"Social-Emotional Learning With Ms. Turrell in Animal Science","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Turrell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9638231_orig.jpg?crop=1836,1836,x310,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731074852605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9638231"},{"teacherId":9817767,"projectId":8906212,"letterContent":"The impact of the project? Beauty. Simplicity. Curiosity. Many students brought citrus ornaments home and hung them on street trees or inside in windows to catch the light. Students wanted to know what dehydrated citrus tasted like, what it could be used for (other than swag, wreaths, and ornaments). They found out that many people like to garnish drinks with dehydrated citrus. At our school's winter craft fair, my students sold dried citrus drink garnishes, grapefruit and orange swag, and more ornaments. With the funds from this sale, we were able to have three in class cooking projects, involving over 95 students! We prepared homemade flour tortillas in the tortilla press, fresh pico de gallo, soft chicken tacos, fresh guacamole and loaded nachos, and more!\r\n\r\nWe are just now experimenting with the dehydrator and teas - so check out this space for another round of asks so we can do more with the dehydrator and herbs for tea!","fullyFundedDate":1730996146277,"projectUrl":"project/autocuidado-y-creatividad-self-care-and/8906212/","projectTitle":"Autocuidado Y Creatividad: Self Care and Creativity in Spanish Class","teacherDisplayName":"Maestra Puntel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9817767_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730125082931","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9817767"},{"teacherId":9817722,"projectId":8906130,"letterContent":"My students come to my office when they are upset, stressed, or just need some peace.
