Even though they may seem like a small addition, they made a big difference in helping our ensemble feel more prepared and professional during performances. Before receiving them, students often had to work around limited equipment, which sometimes made transitions and setup more stressful than necessary.\r\n\r\nOne of the best moments was watching students become more comfortable and confident as they performed once everything was set up properly. They were able to focus more on the music and less on adjusting equipment or trying to make things work. It helped rehearsals run more smoothly, but more importantly, it helped students feel proud of what they were doing and excited to perform together.","fullyFundedDate":1769191980419,"projectUrl":"project/giving-our-ensemble-a-stronger-voice/9987366/","projectTitle":"Giving Our Ensemble a Stronger Voice","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gilbert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9717387_orig.jpg?crop=1701,1701,x68,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731435042004","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9717387"},{"teacherId":9717387,"projectId":9960218,"letterContent":"When the Geometry manipulatives arrived, my students were immediately curious about them. Before class even started, students were picking up the materials, turning pieces around in their hands, and trying to figure out how they connected to what we had been learning. There was a different kind of excitement in the room because the math suddenly felt real to them, rather than something trapped on a worksheet or a screen.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during an activity on transformations and geometric relationships. Normally, some students struggle to picture what is actually happening when shapes move or change. This time, they were able to physically manipulate the figures themselves and test their ideas as they worked through the problems. I watched students begin explaining concepts to each other without my prompting. Students who are usually hesitant to speak up started participating because they could finally see what the math was doing instead of trying to memorize steps they did not fully understand.\r\n\r\nThese materials have continued to change the way my classroom feels every day. My students are currently using them as we move into more advanced Geometry concepts and real-world projects that connect math to design and problem-solving. The manipulatives have helped create a classroom where students are more willing to explore, ask questions, and take risks with their thinking. Students learned about mixtures and solutions, the properties of different oils and their benefits, and how to measure ingredients. Beyond the academic content, this project empowered our students to take ownership of their own wellness—they created products they genuinely use and love, and many have shared their creations with family members.
