The carpet we purchased is colorful, durable, and fits perfectly in our classroom. There are several benefits to having a carpet like this in a PreK classroom.\r\nFirst, because of the variety of colors, we are learning about color names and what colors are. Second, each square is large enough for us to keep all of our body parts in. Young children learn about their own body awareness through the boundaries we provide. This carpet provides the boundaries my students need and they are learning to sit calmly and quietly as well as to keep their bodies in a specific area. Young children learn through their body movements and what body activity is accepted by others and those that are not. \r\nWe use this carpet daily for our whole group activities. Students work on building stamina each day. We talk about sitting still so we can learn but also so others can learn. We talk about sitting up and not laying in other students' spaces and how we are working to build stamina in our whole group space. \r\nThis carpet has helped us focus on body awareness and stamina. We are doing much better at sitting still for whole group activity. Our stamina has increased from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Our goal is 30 minutes! We can do it!","fullyFundedDate":1726792542426,"projectUrl":"project/prek-body-awareness/8757268/","projectTitle":"PreK Body Awareness","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6647165"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_65416","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":404,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":73.1,"schoolId":65416,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Vassalboro Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Vassalboro Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maine/vassalboro-community-school-district/vassalboro-community-school/65416"}
