The audible gasp from my student students when they walked into the room, made my heart glow. Several students thanked me for making the classroom so beautiful. Because of your donation, I was able to add the light filters, and tennis balls the bottom of the chairs. The light filters are wonderful and my students are so happy that it reminds them of a sunny day, especially when we have to have indoor recess. As a teacher for 15 years- the tennis balls on the chairs, make a noticeable difference to the noise level in the classroom. With 26 kids and lots of moving bodies, I do not hear those chairs scratching as they push and tucking their chairs throughout the day. The reduced noise helps my friends who have noise and sensitivity. This now reduces the amount of needed adult support to regulate those students. \r\n\r\nAs you might be able to see in the pictures I attached, my kids love Play-Doh!!! It has been essential to get us through the first week of school. Not only does it help to calm, regulate and keep the kids engaged, it also is a wonderful tool to work on building the muscles for fine motor skills. As we navigate the first few days of school, we need to build strength to then apply it to handwriting and scissor use skills. As the year continues, we will continue to use the Play-Doh for math and literacy. Student students can roll Play-Doh balls to then create counters to help them with math. We use our crayons, headphones, markers, and glue sticks pretty much every day so my job would not be possible without all of the supplies donated by you all. In addition, the students love the new stories especially the book, \"The Leaf Thief\" that we recently read. It was a great book to teach them about the changing of the seasons in a fun way. \r\n\r\nIn addition, most of the students favorite time of day is play time. I get asked \"When is play time?\" after almost everything we do!!! The new play doh and toys have been such a hit. Most of them do not have a lot of toys/games at home so they really look forward to using these things at school.
