Because of your generosity, my students now have access to engaging titles such as *Long Way Down*, *Malala: My Story of Standing Up for Girls' Rights*, *The House on Mango Street*, *The Beautiful Struggle*, several *I Survived* books, and many titles from the *Who Was?* series. These books are already making a meaningful difference as students work on their nonfiction book projects.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is an active process. Students analyze how authors present real events, identify key themes, and learn to connect historical figures and experiences to the world around them. The new books have allowed students to practice important literacy skills such as summarizing information, identifying main ideas, making inferences, and discussing how individuals overcome challenges. Many of the stories we now have available highlight resilience, courage, and social change—topics that inspire thoughtful conversations among students.\r\n\r\nSeveral students immediately gravitated toward these new titles for their projects. The *Who Was?* books have been especially helpful for my inclusion class because they present important historical figures in a clear and engaging way, helping students build both reading confidence and historical knowledge. Seeing students excited to choose books, talk about what they're learning, and share their projects with classmates has been incredibly rewarding. I am truly grateful to the individuals and groups who donated to our classroom library. Your support is helping my students discover the power of reading and learning through books.","fullyFundedDate":1764604119407,"projectUrl":"project/books-in-hands/9540011/","projectTitle":"Books in Hands","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Osborne","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10113298"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_31929","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":319,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":76,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":31929,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Van Cleve Sixth Grade School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Van Cleve Sixth Grade School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/troy-city-school-district/van-cleve-6th-grade-school/31929"}
