Each week when they visit the school library for their library lessons and checkout, the students get to spend time visiting my Inspiration Station, which is a collection of STEM supporting activities including games, puzzles and of course, puppets. I had a small collection of puppets that were donated to me last year, but the students have been begging for new additions to their selection. Since I do not host book fairs (with almost 90% of our student population being considered economically disadvantaged, they are not profitable and in fact are quite exclusionary to our students)...so I don't have much in the way of money to work with when I want to make additions to our library. \r\nThe students were so excited to see the new puppet selections arriving and could not wait to start using them for creative play. From the little ones to the big ones, they choose to use them for dramatic play, motor skill development, language development and more. I had one group of students re-enacting a fairy take with them. I had another group of students use them to play Jenga with...and activity that was met with raucous enjoyment. These puppets have helped expand upon the creativity and joy and are making a great difference in bringing creative outlets for our students. My students were so thrilled and happy to see the supplies we got!
