We finished Blood on the River with the whole class last week and I was blown away by the impact it had on the students. Our students were recently on a field trip to the Star of India, where they had the opportunity to live like sailors, sleep on the ship, raise sails, go in the tween deck, load a runner gun, etc. This book mentioned many of those activities, and the students were able to make real life connections which is always important for learning readers. \r\nThis opportunity was only possible because of donors like yourself.
