It was a great motivator to keep students on track for the class period. Many students were grateful for such a treat right before exiting class, some staying just a minute later to grab their prize.\r\nNext up students will continue their hands-on learning in class by trying to figure out what is stored in a sealed box. We are beginning to learn about the atom and need to keep thinking like scientists. The cleaning wipes will help us stay healthy as we get these last few weeks of the semester under our belts.\r\nThank you again so much for your contribution, it has truly helped.","fullyFundedDate":1756186874145,"projectUrl":"project/beginning-of-the-year-classroom-wants/9607795/","projectTitle":"Beginning of the Year Classroom Wants","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9276561_orig.jpg?crop=1980,1980,x0,y112&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694725751770","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9276561"},{"teacherId":10023907,"projectId":9330029,"letterContent":"Your donation is greatly appreciated and already the impact of the books is starting to be felt by my students. As you know my school is in a low income neighborhood many of our students come to us reading well below their reading levels and often avoid reading as much as possible to hide their lack of ability. For the last several years I have been making it mandatory for my students to read as part of their grade. But as many of us know forcing people to read is a sure fire way to make them resent reading. So it has been a major focus for me and the other English teachers at my school to find a way to convert them all into people who read for fun.\r\n\r\nTo do that I have been trying to get my hands on interesting books of various genres to entice them to read. To not overwhelm them I have them build their reading stamina by reading only 15 minutes a day. School has only been in session for a few weeks now and thanks to my class library I am proud to say that yesterday a student who swore up and down that they hated reading came to me and said \"Most books suck but this one is ok do you have the sequel?\" Another student who said that reading wasn't for her came to me and threatened me that her book better not have a sad ending because the main character was too nice for that. The look on her face when I told her it was part of a trilogy made me laugh. My students likely won't admit it yet but many of them are losing their fear of books. This is what your donation made possible. Thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1747277199628,"projectUrl":"project/inspire-a-new-generation-of-readers/9330029/","projectTitle":"Inspire a New Generation of Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Darbison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10023907_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747191154255","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10023907"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5085","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1193,"numTeachers":66,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":56,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":67.1,"schoolId":5085,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Vallejo High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Vallejo High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/vallejo-city-unified-school-district/vallejo-high-school/5085"}
