I have been able to create a classroom that makes you feel a bit calmer from the moment you walk into the door. With your help we have calmer lighting, botanical decor, large plush carpet, and elementary decor that matches. With the addition of music students enter and feel like they are in a second home. \r\n With some of the materials purchased I also created a calming corner. This is a space in my room in which students are allowed to take some time to disconnect from the stress of the classroom. They can spend 10-15 minutes working on activities or writing to help them self regulate. After that they can return to the rest of the classroom spaces ready to participate. Some of the supplies like plants for this area were provided by you donors. \r\n We are currently halfway through the school year and I have had fewer meltdowns than last year. I think the environment has helped.
