These materials have quickly become an important part of our classroom routine. My students use their journals to organize vocabulary, notes, diagrams, reflections, and activities from each unit. Instead of simply taking notes and forgetting about them, students are creating a resource they can return to throughout the year. The folders also help students keep their assignments and classroom materials organized and accessible.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things has been watching students take ownership of their journals. They add diagrams, vocabulary activities, graphic organizers, and information from our hands-on lessons. We use them regularly during classroom activities, discussions, reviews, and even open-note assessments. Students know exactly where to look when they need evidence or information to solve a more challenging question. It has been wonderful seeing their journals grow alongside their knowledge and seeing students become proud of what they have created.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these journals and folders will travel with students through each new unit. They will continue adding their learning, revisiting previous concepts, and making connections between topics. By the end of the year, each student will have a personalized record of everything they have learned.
