When the students built each plant /flower one by one gave them a sense of accomplishment. They were able to make connections to seasons, virtues, culture and the arts in general.\r\nThese learnings they were able to encapsulate in a poster that they made. They were able to make \"I am\" statements to signify good citizenship. \"I am patient\" for the plum blossom, \"I am humble\" for the orchid, \"I am strong\" for the bamboo, and \"I am calm\" for the chrysanthemum. Such traits are exhibited specifically by each of the Four Gentlemen, and with these traits is how each of them thrive. Students learn that not only humans possess these traits but plants and flowers have them too. Thank you for donating this project to the class. We truly appreciate.","fullyFundedDate":1757946066008,"projectUrl":"project/learning-arts-citizenship-seasons-chi/9646432/","projectTitle":"Learning Arts, Citizenship, Seasons, Chinese Culture Through the Four Gentlemen","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7619331_orig.jpg?crop=723,723,x72,y205&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745537978012","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7619331"},{"teacherId":7619331,"projectId":9583959,"letterContent":"My students in class are deeply into plants and continues to show interest in them. They were delighted when they saw the resources arrived and couldn't believe that it's for the classroom. They got so excited when I opened the box and there were so many plant models that they can create one by one.\r\nFor students with special needs, having visuals and models are two of the best ways to learn. Through the support of various donors and the Donors Choose Community, students absorbed learning with enthusiasm and joy. As seen in the photos, we have our first successful plant in the garden which is lemongrass, and another photo of a model lego jade plant and a real jade plant side by side to compare the real and the model. \r\nStudents drew succulents of aloe vera and echeveria. Another student creating a poster of the different types of plants from the Tiny Plants legos. Finally, a photo of drawings of the life cycle of a bean plant. Students were able to familiarize themselves with the different plants on how they live and thrive. All of these would not be possible with donors like you, so we again thank you for your help and donation.","fullyFundedDate":1755721897730,"projectUrl":"project/inspire-planting-that-lead-to-careers-in/9583959/","projectTitle":"Inspire Planting That Lead to Careers in Gardening and Horticulture","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7619331_orig.jpg?crop=723,723,x72,y205&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745537978012","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7619331"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7485","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":358,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.9,"schoolId":7485,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Utah Street Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Utah Street Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/utah-street-elementary-school/7485"}
