Distance learning can be a challenge due to the lack of technical skills in many of my students' households. This challenge can be resolved with your help.
An iPad would allow my students to become familiar with the technology that they will need in their future school years and in their lives.
With the use of the iPad, my students will be able to develop their sign language skills and vocabulary by watching stories being signed in American Sign Language (ASL). Furthermore, by watching these stories, their ASL comprehension will also improve. They can take the iPads home and watch ASL stories with their parents, thus making the parents develop their ASL skills which will provide more communication in the residence. The iPad will allow my students to record themselves signing basic vocabulary to signing stories. I can also use the iPad to help develop their math skills by writing on the screen much like using a whiteboard.
The iPad will also be a great addition to my classroom once we go back to school. The iPad will be used during small group instruction and independent work time to reinforce concepts my students have learned The use of iPads will make my students become stronger in the use of technology which they will need in the future.
