Your kindness has already made a meaningful impact in our classroom community.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the snacks, my students have been able to stay focused, energized, and ready to participate throughout the school day. We use the snacks during independent work time, small group instruction, and after lunch when many students begin to lose energy. Having these resources available has helped create a more positive and supportive learning environment where students can focus on learning instead of hunger.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks arrive, they were incredibly excited and grateful. Many of them immediately smiled and asked when they would be able to have one. One moment that stood out to me was hearing students thank one another and express appreciation for the people who cared enough to support our classroom. It reminded me how important even small acts of kindness can be for children.\r\n\r\nThese snacks are helping students remain engaged during important classroom lessons and assessments as we continue working toward our academic goals this year. With fewer distractions caused by hunger, students are better able to collaborate, participate in discussions, and complete their assignments with confidence! \r\n\r\nYour generosity has shown my students that there are people beyond our classroom who believe in them and care about their success. Thank you for helping create a classroom where students feel supported, valued, and ready to learn each day.","fullyFundedDate":1770747950593,"projectUrl":"project/focus-mode-on/9984381/","projectTitle":"Focus Mode: ON","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ghaffar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10397189"},{"teacherId":9745397,"projectId":9652805,"letterContent":"As a teacher in a Title I school, many of my students receive free lunch. However, as we know, access to free lunch does not mean students will be satiated for the entire day. While the lunches provided are great, students sometimes have preferences and do not wish to eat the food provided. I think that students deserve choice and the option to have foods they enjoy. With this project, I am able to provide high quality snacks that feed the students and get them excited. Sometimes these snacks are given out to students for participating, while sometimes a student just needs some food in order to have the energy to approach Algebra. Either way, we are grateful for the snacks and the joy they have brought to our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1760904247897,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-math/9652805/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Regan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9745397"},{"teacherId":9745397,"projectId":9088442,"letterContent":"The access to headphones for my students means the difference between accessing grade level material and feeling lost in class. As students with disabilities, reading comprehension can be a barrier to learning. Luckily, with current technology, there are many ways to overcome this barrier- including reading aloud. It is not always possible for a teacher to read everything out loud, and this restricts the independence of the students. With access to tech that can read texts for them, and headphones so they do not have to interrupt the class to listen, students are able to get their work done and feel confident and independent!","fullyFundedDate":1746785587078,"projectUrl":"project/listen-up/9088442/","projectTitle":"Listen Up!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Regan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9745397"},{"teacherId":10046749,"projectId":9386955,"letterContent":"Thank you for your investment! Our AP Research students are so excited to be able to publish their findings. \r\n\r\nAs each student planned their podcast, they put together an infographic to guide their work. They studied the parameters of good podcasts, sharing best practices with one another. Even before the mics were hot, students were thinking about how to engage an audience. What joy they had as they began to pick their teams. Most students chose friends with whom they share conversational chemistry, some chose expert advisers, and some even chose research participants. We set up recording sessions, and every single one of them came for extra sessions during lunch or free periods. One came before school, and a few stayed after. They put up \"On Air\" signs and locked the doors, projecting their podcast cover art. Scripts came in handy, keeping their episodes tight. Once they had what they needed, they got down to the business of editing. \r\n\r\nSeason 1 has 16 student episodes available to stream on Spotify, and the students have an Instagram account for podcast promotion. In addition, there are three bonus content episodes I recorded with members of our Institutional Review Board. Students also spent time making sound bundles, recording little songs and phrases to introduce course lexicon between segments. Students taking the pre-requisite course contributed some to these sessions, along with one middle school social studies class that happened to be in the right place at the right time. \r\n\r\nAs the new AP Research students begin the course, they now have assignments in which they listen to episodes and discuss takeaways. This has helped front-load an understanding of the course paradigm, and it has also sparked interest in topic ideas. \r\n\r\nThis technology promises to provide an opportunity for authentic publishing at our school, but it also transcends our initial use in the AP Capstone. We now have the capability of providing students in all classes with a way to amplify their voices as they engage with rigorous coursework. UASLE can continue to develop an audio arm that gets kids excited to share their work with their friends, family, and community. We couldn't have done this without you. \r\n\r\nWe deeply appreciate your philanthropy.","fullyFundedDate":1748821476865,"projectUrl":"project/podcasting-for-ap-students/9386955/","projectTitle":"Podcasting for AP Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Schwartz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10046749_orig.jpg?crop=1576,1576,x0,y210&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748632565683","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10046749"},{"teacherId":9745397,"projectId":8771360,"letterContent":"My students couldn't have been more appreciative for the snacks and supplies they got through this project. Some of these snacks went straight into prizes for academic challenges. For example, students would have to achieve an 85 or above on an assignment, or turn in all assignments for a month to earn prizes. Having good snacks makes a huge difference as a motivator to accomplish these goals. as we work toward intrinsic motivation, it is important to first have extrinsic motivators.\r\nThe rest of the snacks went toward supporting our students who aren't able to bring in snacks. Students who go through the day hungry have a harder time focusing, earning good grades and making good choices. Being able to offer students a delicious and healthy snack greatly improves their mood, and attitude toward school. \r\nThank you so much for your donations, and for making my classroom a safer and more joyful space for students","fullyFundedDate":1737605947155,"projectUrl":"project/motivators-for-behavior-and-grades/8771360/","projectTitle":"Motivators for Behavior and Grades!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Regan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9745397"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_94728","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":489,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":88,"percentAsian":47,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":54.6,"schoolId":94728,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Urban Assembly School for Leadership and Empowerment on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Urban Assembly School for Leadership and Empowerment","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/urban-assembly-criminal-justice/94728"}
