Students were excited about it since the moment we opened it in February 2023, and couldn't wait to visit it and check out the books. Students loved participating in the reading and library related activities. They rushed to fill out their reading logs, wrote book reports on library books, participated in the buddy reading and in the book talks, and wanted to know who were the students in each grade level who read the most books each month. They also loved getting certificates and prizes!\r\n\r\nTamayo students read 10, 385 books in two and a half years while I was managing the library. It is with a heavy heart that I am giving the library away, but I am also excited that I helped create a job in my school, so now we will have an actual librarian, and can't wait to see how the library will flourish. You and your donations have helped me achieve this, and I am infinitely grateful for your generousity.","fullyFundedDate":1773842966268,"projectUrl":"project/replenish-library-books/10069545/","projectTitle":"Replenish Library Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Daniela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8946401_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714875530654","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-daniela"},{"teacherId":8946401,"projectId":9575957,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my project! The 4th-grade students were excited to use the program thanks to the resources you provided for them! \r\n\r\nAt the initial stage, we trained the students how to use the program, with all its components. They worked on making predictions about the stories, on fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and summarizing. At this stage, students worked in groups. After they had mastered the steps, they were able to work in pairs and provide peer support to each other. Students enjoyed choosing their seating spot and working with each other. \r\n\r\nThank you again for donating to my project and making this possible for our students!","fullyFundedDate":1758052786608,"projectUrl":"project/read-naturally-in-4th-grade/9575957/","projectTitle":"Read Naturally in 4th Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Daniela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8946401_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714875530654","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-daniela"},{"teacherId":2961154,"projectId":9783054,"letterContent":"Thank you for generously providing paper towels, fidgets, fruit snacks, glue sticks, and many other essentials that have made an immediate difference in our classroom. They were thrilled to see the colorful folders, markers, and Sharpies, and couldn't wait to start using them. We organized the folders right away so each student could have a dedicated space for their Spanish and artwork. The new four-drawer bin has helped keep our classroom neat and efficient—students now know exactly where to find and return their materials, which has saved us valuable learning time.\r\n\r\nOne of the first projects we completed using the new materials was a bilingual art and writing activity where students created colorful self-portraits and labeled them in Spanish. The markers and Sharpies were perfect for adding bright details and labels, and the students took great pride in their work. Having these supplies allowed everyone to participate fully, regardless of whether they could bring materials from home.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your generosity goes far beyond the supplies themselves. These resources have helped my students stay organized, take ownership of their learning, and express their creativity with confidence. We're now preparing for our next cultural art unit, and the materials you provided will continue to support their growth and success. Thank you for helping us build a classroom where every student feels prepared, inspired, and valued.","fullyFundedDate":1759161605340,"projectUrl":"project/supplies-for-success/9625048/","projectTitle":"Supplies for Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10009490_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y687&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755784197296","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10009490"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29519","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":266,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.7,"schoolId":29519,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rufino Tamayo Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rufino Tamayo Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/uno-rufino-tamayo-cs/29519"}
