They were thrilled to see the colorful folders, markers, and Sharpies, and couldn't wait to start using them. We organized the folders right away so each student could have a dedicated space for their Spanish and artwork. The new four-drawer bin has helped keep our classroom neat and efficient—students now know exactly where to find and return their materials, which has saved us valuable learning time.\r\n\r\nOne of the first projects we completed using the new materials was a bilingual art and writing activity where students created colorful self-portraits and labeled them in Spanish. The markers and Sharpies were perfect for adding bright details and labels, and the students took great pride in their work. Having these supplies allowed everyone to participate fully, regardless of whether they could bring materials from home.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your generosity goes far beyond the supplies themselves. These resources have helped my students stay organized, take ownership of their learning, and express their creativity with confidence. We're now preparing for our next cultural art unit, and the materials you provided will continue to support their growth and success. We are a small school, and any extra space is always welcome! This project, however, was so hard to complete, and I have tried since last year once it got funded. I ordered dividers two or three times, and each time I received a notification that my order was declined. Then summer break came, and I couldn't order. This school year, right at the start in August, I ordered a divider that was finally delivered to us, but it was not what we needed, so I had to return it. Getting a divider proved to be a very difficult task, so I ended up getting an old one from a teacher, and did the next best thing I could for my students- I got the supplies we use each day. Now, thanks to you and your generosity, my students have new folders, notebooks, and markers to write. I ordered a laminator too, which will help my students refer to the classroom posters. \r\nOnce again, thank you for your generous donations and for helping me better support my students!","fullyFundedDate":1746468979416,"projectUrl":"project/extra-space-and-some-privacy/9293392/","projectTitle":"Extra Space and Some Privacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Daniela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8946401_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714875530654","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-daniela"},{"teacherId":8946401,"projectId":9248987,"letterContent":"Supported by my principal and a team of teachers, I created the school library from scratch. I wanted to make books accessible for our studens. I bought the sheleves, books, and learned about the library systems. We opened the library on February 22, 2022. Fast forward to 2025, our students have read over 6, 000 books! \r\n\r\nYou have made this dream possible! The donated art supplies made it possible for students to bring their Alebrije projects to life—vibrant, fantastical creatures inspired by traditional Mexican art. This was more than just an art activity; it became a way for students to express their creativity, practice their Spanish vocabulary, and deepen their understanding of Latin American traditions. One particularly special moment was when a student who typically shies away from speaking up in class proudly presented her Alebrije to the group, explaining its symbolism in Spanish. The pride and confidence on her face said everything.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the students were incredibly excited. There were lots of \"oohs\" and \"wows\" as they opened the packages and saw the variety of materials. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it created a buzz of anticipation for the project. These resources gave them the freedom to explore different artistic techniques and make their visions come to life in a way that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.\r\n\r\nNow that we've wrapped up our Alebrijes and explored Costa Rica's diverse ecosystems and animals, students are moving on to their next project—creating bilingual storybooks featuring the animals they researched. They'll be using their Spanish skills to write simple narratives, pairing them with illustrations. Because of your support, they now feel more connected to the cultures they're studying and more confident expressing themselves in a second language.
