For our special \"100 Days Brighter\" project, students were able to celebrate the 100th Day of School and all of their learning accomplishments by having a special glow in the dark themed day! We used all of the resources that were funded through this project to create a perfectly themed learning day filled with fun reading, math, and team building activities. A few of the fun learning activities in ELA included building sight words using glow sticks, writing CVC words using highlighters, and doing a fun search around the room to find and record hidden glow in the dark sight words. We kept the fun going in math by writing to 100 using highlighters, rolling glow in the dark dice to fill in large glowing number bonds, stacking our glow cups to make towers of ten until we reached one hundred, and playing glow in the dark card games, such as finding the highest value on the card. Students were able to work with partners and teams on a variety of these activities, so they could build social skills and team building skills with their classmates. \r\n\r\nWhen the students entered our fully decorated classroom, they were shocked and wonderfully surprised! The classroom windows were covered and the lights were off so the room was fully darkened to allow black lights to light up the space and all of the decorations, creating the perfect glow in the dark learning environment. Students could not believe that our classroom had fully transformed into a bright and glowing room! All of the students were enthusiastic and excited to receive their own glowing hats and light up glasses! In addition, all of the students were very appreciative of the celebration.\r\n\r\nAfter our 100th Day of School celebration, students will continue to learn and expand on the ELA, Math, team-building, and social skills that were practiced on our special Glow Day. The long lasting memories from the \"100 Days Brighter\" Glow Day Celebration will forever impact the students.\r\n\r\nSpecial learning opportunities and projects would not be possible without the kindhearted and generous support of donors. Parent volunteers jumped in to set up the decorations and black lights to enhance the classroom and make our \"Glow Day\" event a community celebration. \r\n The resources provided created fun stations for the students, throughout the day. Reading stations included \"write the room\" with highlighters and building sight words with glow sticks. Art was utilized as students created glow in the dark monsters with 10. S.T.E.M and problem solving were incorporated into the learning with building towers of ten, with glowing cups.
