My students did not know that they could use this type of machine to create art. They had seen table saws in FFA classes or robotics class. They did express that they were not yet trained to use them. So, they were really excited that they were going to be able to use these without any risks of being injured. \r\n Our project incorporated them having to create a life size pop art profile of themselves. These portraits had to be drawn on trifolds which are about 3mm thick. Their figures included a lot of curves. The chomp saw allowed the students to easily cut their figures out. They liked it so much that they wanted to cut everyone's portraits. I had to advise them that everyone had to cut out their own, so they could have an opportunity to see/feel how the machine works. I also allowed them to cut out their pop out words. I do hope to get two more machine for my classroom. \r\n We will be using the chomp saw for many future 3D projects! This opened up their creativity and wanting to create bigger and better artwork.","fullyFundedDate":1755731646979,"projectUrl":"project/recycled-creations/9286160/","projectTitle":"Recycled Creations!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ysena Gamez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9551149_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745628497174","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9551149"},{"teacherId":10184950,"projectId":9616436,"letterContent":"My students are ecstatic with the new mood this classroom brings. I am filled with the upmost grattitude that someone in the world has blessed my classroom in the way that you have. In today's school enviornment, students are suffering and are in desperate need of organized lessons. They are inundated with information that pulls them away from reading, literature, and learning in general. By gifting my classroom with a set of \"The Great Gatsby\" my students have a physical and tangible copy that allows them to disconnect from technology as we read. My students loved reading this classic story and still talk about how it engaged and excited them. These small seeds are planted because of your wonderful gift. Now while reading, students put away all materials except the book and are able to follow along, ask questions, and engage in discussion. My classroom now feels like a true depiction of the ELA classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746458709829,"projectUrl":"project/igniting-a-love-of-literature/9265018/","projectTitle":"Igniting a Love of Literature","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mendiola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7818779_orig.jpg?crop=366,366,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1618422871140","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7818779"},{"teacherId":9497322,"projectId":9056146,"letterContent":"We are absolutely thrilled to share the incredible impact your generous donations of arts and craft supplies, classroom organizers, and student rewards have made in our English language learning classroom! Your support has truly transformed our space and energized our students.\r\n\r\nThe new materials have allowed us to move beyond the textbook and create a vibrant, hands-on learning environment. The classroom organizers have made our space more structured and efficient, helping students take ownership of their materials and focus more easily.\r\n\r\nThe arts and craft supplies are our favorite new tools! We're using them almost daily to make abstract English concepts tangible. We have created several classroom art projects that have increased our classroom environment and have made being in class fun and exciting. \r\n\r\nThe student rewards, like fun erasers and bright stickers, have been fantastic for instant positive reinforcement. Students are more motivated than ever to participate, make mistakes, and try again, knowing there's a small, exciting reward for their effort.\r\n\r\nThank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for seeing the potential in our students and making this transformation possible. While the project was funded towards the end of the school year, all the supplies have been put to good use. To keep students engaged and motivated, I have planned many activities that allow students to have fun and be creative even in RLA. I am a firm believer that art can be used in any academic discipline. First, students have been playing a review game called \"Stinky Feet\" were they compete against each other by answering content questions correctly then drawing a card on the board and either receiving positive or negative points. The team that wins has the most points at the end of the game. We have also done an escape room based on \"The Great Gatsby.\" The students had a blast and learned about literary elements and textual evidence. I have also had the students create paper cranes and jumping frogs using the color and white paper that you sent. This activity taught perseverance, patience, and the importance of starting over. The students were pushed outside their comfort zone but kept trying to create their little paper animals. I told them at the end, \"remember life gets tough, but we have to keep trying to achieve success.\" The students are so excited to paint and create end of the year projects with our new supplies.","fullyFundedDate":1745328116005,"projectUrl":"project/paint-color-create-projects-in-rla/9110384/","projectTitle":"Paint, Color, & Create Projects in RLA","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mendiola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7818779_orig.jpg?crop=366,366,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1618422871140","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7818779"},{"teacherId":7818779,"projectId":9080211,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for all of your generous donations! My students have been very excited to participate in so many fun activities. One day, they even asked me to extend the activity so that they could continue engagement with their peers. \r\n\r\nFor more context, I gave a lesson on fragment sentences. This is usually a boring notetaking assignment that puts kids to sleep. However, your donation allowed for students to participate in a unique group activity that made everyone giggle. I sat the students in groups of 4 and handed each one of them a post it note. They were then asked to write a fragmented sentence. Then I played music as the students exchanged their post-its until the music stopped (like musical chairs). Then they were asked to fix their partners sentences. We did this for several rounds. They students giggled and got a kick out of their responses. I posted the sentences in my classroom to remind student about the activity.
