Not only did the text provide students with a culturally relavant topic, but allowed them to explore their own personal thoughts and beliefs about real-life issues.\r\n\r\nAs a culminating activity for this project, students interviewed immigrants from all around the world that eventually became US Citizens. After asking higher-level questions, students wrote narratives about the person's immigration experience.
