The children were so excited to have some sturdy tables to use during outside recess. The first thing they did when they saw them was sit down and talk with their peers. They have used them to pretend to have a restaurant with the play kitchen center and as a pretend food prep area to make food that peers have ordered. They used them as seating areas to watch as the field behind the Preschool was combined and chisel plowed. This was a nice addition to a choice, as the cement was cold to sit on to watch them working.\r\n In the future, we are planning some outdoor craft activities and classroom snack times. In the spring, we would like to use them to encourage exploration of things that we find when the snow melts, and as an area where we sit and make observation drawings of things that we are seeing.
