When my students stepped into my room and saw the boxes, they were so excited! Even though the materials were not toys for them, they reacted as if it were Christmas morning! Most of these students don't know the feeling of receiving gifts in this magnitude, so it was a day never to forget. When I told them about your funding, they truly felt special; they felt seen for their hard work and dedication to music, even in a small district like ours. \r\n\r\nSince receiving our new materials, classes have been running smoother than ever. The cart has been a such a time saver for me and for my students. They know if they are missing music or a handout, they go right to their class's drawer on the cart and they are able to find it themselves- no interruption in learning for the rest of the class. Because of this opportunity to be independent from me, the older students have started stepping up to help the underclassmen. They no longer need to bring every question or request to me, because they know where to find the answers. The growth of the older students has been remendous in such a short period of time, and the intellectual growth of the full groups is following suit. I cannot wait to see their growth over the whole year!\r\n\r\nThe over-the-door pocket folio has made filing music, handing out music, and handing out papers so much easier because I have ONE dedicated spot for them all rather than being strown all over the classroom and my office. The light covers have completely changed the mood! Where the lights used to be harsh, we have just enough light coverings to make it feel as if we're outside on a sunny day- the blue just brightens the room. With reliable and colorful dry erase markers, I have been utilizing my white board much more this year than in years past. Our disinfecting wipes not only keep high-touch surfaces clean and germ-free, it also adds a fresh, clean smell to the whole room. The tool organizer has finally given me the opportunity to have my reeds, small tools, bandages, and other small accessories all in one spot! The magnets have given me the opportunity to showcase student art on our giant geothermal unit rather than taping it to a small section of wall. \r\n\r\nOverall, with your help, students feel welcomed into the music room. It is a place they want to be, a place they feel comfortable and happy, and it is a place they are able to be independent learners. Thank you for looking out for the small music program in the small districts. These students are dedicated to their music and I am so glad they were able to experience being noticed by a group larger than their small town.
