My students use the snacks to manage the mandatory 15-minute observation period after every blood draw. It has taught them that being a phlebotomist isn't just about the needle, it's about managing the patient's physical state from start to finish.\r\n\r\nA Specific Lab Moment During a recent lab session, a student donor started to feel clammy after their draw. Instead of it being a stressful situation, the student phlebotomist followed our new recovery protocol: they stayed with the donor, notified me and I was able to provide a snack to stabilize their blood sugar, and monitored them until they were cleared to leave. Having the supplies on hand allowed the student to stay professional and in control.\r\n\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps? We are currently in the final push for National Phlebotomy Certification. Being able to practice real-world patient recovery in class is essential for the clinical skills portion of their exams. Additionally, my students are preparing to head out to clinical internships at local hospitals next month. Because of your support, they'll walk into those professional labs already knowing how to handle a lightheaded patient and manage a recovery station with confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1757278340369,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-future-phlebotomists-snacks-for/9680741/","projectTitle":"Fueling Future Phlebotomists: Snacks for Donor Recovery","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Maxwell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9973860_orig.jpg?crop=288,288,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757082124123","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9973860"},{"teacherId":5961062,"projectId":9268667,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations!
