When the kits first arrived, the excitement was palpable; my students were eager to dive into the world of robotics, and their enthusiasm has only grown since that day. We kicked off our journey with the \"Robolympics,\" where students applied the Laws of Motion to design custom robots for high-stakes competitions like RoboRun, RoboWrestling, and RoboTug. It has been a transformative experience to hear students say they truly \"love Physics now\" because they can finally see abstract forces and motion come to life through their own mechanical creations.\r\n\r\nBuilding on that success, we have moved into our second major project: the Robotic Catapult. Students are currently engineering robots capable of launching projectiles at \"frustration boxes\" - targets labeled with the personal challenges they want to overcome. This activity bridges the gap between theory and reality, as they must use kinematic formulas to calculate the precise range needed to hit their marks. Your contribution has done more than just provide hardware; it has created a classroom culture where students are consistently longing for the next challenge. Because of you, these future engineers are not just learning formulas - they are using technology to conquer their frustrations and master the laws of the physical world.","fullyFundedDate":1766691508522,"projectUrl":"project/robolympics-revolution/9966720/","projectTitle":"Robolympics Revolution","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. RA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9798606_orig.png?crop=450,450,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728429379076","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9798606"},{"teacherId":9798606,"projectId":9227403,"letterContent":"The \"STEM Journey Begins\" project has been a game changer for my students at Tombstone High School. With the robotics materials we received, students were able to experience technology not just as something to use, but as something to build, program, and control. Through activities like the Robolympics, they demonstrated Newton's Laws of Motion by competing in events such as RoboRun and RoboWrestling, which turned abstract concepts into real, hands-on learning. Their excitement was incredible - students who once struggled to stay engaged were now exclaiming, \"I love this class\" and \"I love our robots.\" One student who rarely spoke up in class became the leader of his group's design team, proudly sharing their robot's progress and encouraging his peers. The new technology has given students a way to think creatively, solve problems together, and see themselves as future innovators. We are now building on this momentum with a new project - a robotic catapult to apply their understanding of projectile motion - and even starting a Science, Engineering, and Technology Club. None of this would have been possible without your generosity, which has truly opened doors for our students to imagine, create, and achieve.","fullyFundedDate":1751706466234,"projectUrl":"project/a-stem-journey-begins/9227403/","projectTitle":"A STEM Journey Begins","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. RA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9798606_orig.png?crop=450,450,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728429379076","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9798606"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57509","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":453,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":54,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"21.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":52.8,"schoolId":57509,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tombstone High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tombstone High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/tombstone-unified-school-district-1/tombstone-high-school/57509"}
