Funds were used to purchase a couple of Big Joe brand bean bag chairs, as well as some accent pillows, and finally some fancy pens to be used as student rewards for work well done.\r\n\r\nStudents don't have much choice in my classroom, in terms of seating arrangements. My science room has only lab tables, which are bolted to the floors and contain not only electrical outlets but also gas lines (it used to be an old chemistry classroom). As a result, there isn't a way to do much \"group work\" in a comfortable setting. There also isn't a good way, other than moving them to the front row, to provide for a student who can't see the display board or white board well. This project solved those problems!\r\n\r\nStudents can now choose to work on a nice, comfy carpeted area in bean bag chairs during free-work or study time or quiz time. Every single period of every single day kids are running a lottery for whose turn it is to be in this area. They now say my room is the most welcoming room in the middle school!
