The supplies have helped me get the new school year organized and ready to start. The cardstock has been used to create colorful and inviting name tags. cubby tags, table tags, door displays and more. The popsicle sticks are used to make sure all students have a chance to participate as each child has their name on a stick and I pull sticks to call on students to answer questions, have turns in our activities and more. We will use googly eyes on various projects all year but this first week they added the finishing touch on the Pigeon craft they made after reading 'The Pigeon as To Go To School'. Dry erase markers are used all year long in so many different ways but today we practiced writing letters. And finally the 'Head to Toe' book was used to help kids start out the year believing they can do so many things!!\r\n Again, thankyou so much for you donation. It makes it classroom more inviting and the activities more fun. The lamination paper has really helped these activities and games to last much longer. With the tools and resources funded by this project, my students have had access to engaging, hands-on learning opportunities that have brought math to life in our classroom. My students were so excited when they saw the new tools. They especially love the individual place value mats!\r\n\r\nKey Impacts:\r\n\t1.\tEngaged Learning with Specific Tools:\r\nThe place value mats and place value charts have been invaluable for helping students visualize numbers. By manipulating these tools, students can break down numbers into hundreds, tens, and ones, making abstract concepts more tangible. The magnetic place value tools allow me to demonstrate place value concepts on the whiteboard, engaging the entire class at once. Students love seeing their work represented visually as we solve problems together.\r\n\t2.\tImproved Understanding Through Hands-On Activities:\r\nUsing the tools like base-ten blocks alongside the mats and charts has provided a multi-sensory approach to learning. Students physically build numbers and manipulate them to see how regrouping works. These activities deepen their comprehension and help them make meaningful connections to real-world math.\r\n\t3.\tBuilding Confidence:\r\nThe interactive nature of these tools has given students a sense of accomplishment. As they use the mats, charts, and magnetic tools to solve problems, they feel empowered to tackle more challenging tasks. This boost in confidence has made them more eager to participate in math lessons and discussions.\r\n\t4.\tClass Collaboration:\r\nThe magnetic place value tools have also fostered collaboration. As a whole class, we can work together to solve problems on the board, promoting teamwork and shared learning experiences. Students love coming up to the board to contribute to our \"Number Ninjas\" challenges.\r\n\t5.\tPreparing for Future Success:\r\nMastering place value is essential for future math concepts like addition, subtraction with regrouping, and eventually multiplication and division. With the support of these tools, students have built a strong foundation, ensuring they are ready for more complex math skills in later grades.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of our donors, the \"Number Ninjas\" project has transformed math instruction in my classroom. These tools have made learning more interactive, engaging, and effective, ensuring my students not only master place value but also develop a love for math that will carry them far in their education.","fullyFundedDate":1730153719904,"projectUrl":"project/building-number-ninjas-mastering-place/8796369/","projectTitle":"Building Number Ninjas: Mastering Place Value With Hands-On Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jensen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8282127_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657762658936","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8282127"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63604","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":533,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.4,"schoolId":63604,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Three Falls Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Three Falls Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/washington-county-school-district/three-falls-elementary-school/63604"}
