Since the beginning of Covid 19 I have noticed a gap in many of students reading abilities and comprehension skills. Many of my third-grade students struggle with comprehension skills and remembering what they read. Those students are considered at risk and below level. Without certain comprehension skills, students lack the ability to understand what they are reading. By the end of third grade, the Utah Core Standards states that all third grade students should be able to comprehend a text. Having outstanding reading comprehension skills is vital because it increases the joy and value of reading and helps them not just in school but as a lifelong learner. The learning games and activities I am requesting will be used to help the students who are struggling with certain reading skills. The literacy activities will be engaging for my students and the students will love to play them. I am excited to see my students improve in their reading!
