Your generous support has made a wonderful community service project possible for the multiple disabled students. We are using the new resources to create care packages: the students are carefully filling Ziplock bags with exactly 20 laundry pods each, then assembling them into laundry bags that we donate directly to the food pantry. This hands-on activity not only helps families in need with essential laundry supplies but also builds practical life skills, fine motor coordination, and sense of purpose through giving back. A specific highlight was when a student who typically struggles with focus stayed fully engaged for the entire period, proudly counting out the pods and sealing each bag with care-it was a proud classroom moment that shows real growth and teamwork. \r\n\r\nAs the next step, we plan to continue this initiative by tracking how many bags we donate over the coming weeks, discussing the impact with the class and possibly taking a field trip to our local food pantry. We are also tying it into our ongoing lessons on community responsibility and daily living skills. Your support has enriched our classroom. Through this project, students were able to create over 60 birthday bag kits consisting of frosting, pans, sprite and cake mix to help families in need create special memories. These birthday bags were split between the Interfaith Food Pantry and the Rockaway Food Closet. The bags that went to the Interfaith Food Pantry totaled over 130 pounds of food alone!
