This has turned into a really meaningful life skills project. Students take on different roles—some help prepare the coffee, others focus on assembling orders, and some work on delivering drinks and interacting with staff. One moment that really stood out was when a student who typically needs a lot of prompting was able to independently hand a teacher their coffee and say \"thank you.\" It was a small interaction, but a huge step in communication and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials were first introduced, my students were immediately interested and excited. The real-life aspect of using an actual coffee pot and cups made the activity feel important and purposeful. Some students were very eager to explore and help right away, while others needed a little time, but overall there was a noticeable increase in engagement. Having materials that connect to something they see adults use every day really helped them buy into the activity.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are focused on building independence and expanding student roles within the coffee cart. We're working on skills like taking simple orders, handling money and giving change back, and increasing communication with staff. We're also starting to practice more consistency in routines so students can anticipate their roles and complete tasks with less prompting. Ultimately, the goal is to help them generalize these functional and social skills beyond the classroom into real-world settings. Thank you again for your generosity.
