Many students who were once hesitant readers are now eager to pick up a book or join in a literacy game during class and even during free time.\r\n\r\nThese materials have also provided a meaningful alternative to screen time. Instead of turning to phones or tablets, students now connect face-to-face through shared reading and gameplay. They're collaborating, communicating, and practicing important social skills, while strengthening their literacy in a fun, hands-on way.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a real difference in helping students rediscover the joy of reading and learning together. My students are super grateful for each and every donor that helped us reach our goal. \r\n\r\nMoreover, the new equipment has helped foster teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship through group games and cooperative challenges. Students learned valuable life skills such as goal-setting, perseverance, and respect for others while being active. These social-emotional benefits are just as important as physical health and contribute to a positive school culture.\r\n\r\nInvesting in this project means investing in their health, happiness, and academic success. Research shows that physically active students perform better academically, have higher self-esteem, and are more likely to adopt healthy habits into adulthood.\r\nThank you for donating to help us build a stronger, healthier future for our students. These aren't just simple supplies—they're tools that will transform how our prepsters experience painting. The new containers will make it so much easier for my students to mix colors, explore new techniques, and dive into their art without the stress of messy cleanups or spills. With the lids and trays, setting up and putting away materials will be smooth and efficient, giving us more time to focus on what matters most: creativity and self-expression.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, my students can now paint with more confidence and curiosity. One of the most exciting moments was seeing the students' faces light up when they walked in and saw their new seating options—they immediately rushed to try them out!\r\n\r\nWe recently used the beanbag chairs during a book club discussion, where students gathered in small groups to analyze their novels in a relaxed, comfortable setting. The difference in engagement was incredible—students were more focused, excited to share their thoughts, and truly immersed in their books.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll continue to use this flexible seating for creative writing workshops, peer editing sessions, and even quiet reflection time. Most recently, our class has been working on a beautiful project centered around Kindness Day, where students are exploring the use of warm vs. cool colors through watercolor heart paintings. The drying racks have allowed us to display their paintings as they dry without fear of smudging or crowding, creating a more organized and efficient space.\r\n\r\nA standout moment for me—and for the students—was when we began to place their completed watercolor hearts on the racks for drying. They were so excited to see their art pieces up and safely displayed! The drying racks gave them a sense of pride in their work and showed them that their effort was valued. It allowed students to step back and admire the collective display of their creativity, seeing their individual pieces come together as part of a larger, colorful collection.\r\n\r\nWhen the racks first arrived, my students' faces lit up! They immediately saw how the racks could make their art projects more manageable, and it felt like an upgrade to our classroom setup. They eagerly started using them without worrying about accidental damage or clutter on desks.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our current Valentine's heart project is moving into a new phase: students will now pair their warm vs. cool color hearts with written reflections on how the colors made them feel. After the hearts are fully dry, they'll be assembled into a classroom art display for a \"Heart Gallery,\" which will showcase their individual creativity and their understanding of color theory. The drying racks will be essential in supporting this next step, ensuring that every piece is handled carefully as we prepare for the gallery exhibition.\r\n\r\nYour support through this project and 4 other classrooms has directly improved the artistic experience for each of my students, giving them the tools to focus on creating without worrying about where their art will go once it's finished. Thank you for making this possible—it has truly made a world of difference in all 7 classrooms!","fullyFundedDate":1731185300177,"projectUrl":"project/an-art-room-necessity-drying-racks/8925811/","projectTitle":"An Art Room Necessity: Drying Racks!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Julia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9829189"},{"teacherId":9700893,"projectId":8693842,"letterContent":"I would like to say a huge thank you for what you were able to give. When my students got the gifts the reaction was like a full class surprise party. \r\n\r\nI have seen a strong amount of growth in my students in terms their reading, and I owe that to the books we were able to get. They love taking opportunities to independently read and practice with them. I have even been able to loan them to struggling families for students to continue practicing at home! \r\n\r\nThe weighted stuffed animals we received have resulted in not just helping the students with emotional regulation, but also with communication skills. They created and navigate their own turn taking system with the acknowledgment of \"that's ok maybe next time\" if they are not randomly picked to receive an animal that day. I have also witnessed students go and retrieve one of the animals for a fellow classmate who was having big feelings. \r\n\r\n\r\nAll of the classroom materials have made teaching even more of a joy than it already was.
