My students have experienced a year and a half of distance learning. They are not headed back into the classroom. Research shows that one of the most effective ways to improve learning is by creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. This project aims to focus on three different aspects of my classroom: calm corner, reading corner and classroom library. The pillows, blankets, bean bags, carpet and lights are used to create a cozy calm corner and reading corner. I'm looking forward to creating a "home away from home" in my classroom. Specifically creating a cozy reading corner for students to get excited about reading! The clear baskets and young adult books will be used to both organize and add to the classroom library. The teachers pay teachers gift card will be used to purchase lesson materials specific to writing. The objective is to have 80% of students reading at grade level or higher. Through your support, I know that I will be able to achieve my ambitious goals and close the opportunity gap.
