Because of you, our classroom now has a self-service area stocked with snacks and hygiene products that students can access whenever they need—no questions asked. This simple setup has made a powerful difference in our daily classroom environment.\r\n\r\nWe use these resources throughout the school day. Students are able to grab a snack to help them stay focused during lessons, assessments, and group work, and they can discreetly take hygiene items as needed. One moment that really stood out to me was during a long class period when a student quietly grabbed a snack, returned to their seat, and was able to fully engage in the activity afterward. That sense of dignity and independence is exactly what we hoped to create, and it's happening every day because of you.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were immediate and heartfelt. There were smiles, quiet thank-yous, and visible relief. Several students expressed how much it meant to them to have a space where they could take care of themselves without feeling embarrassed or singled out. The self-service nature of the area has helped normalize asking for what you need and has strengthened the sense of trust and safety in our classroom.\r\n\r\nAs you've supported this project, you've truly become part of our classroom community. Right now, students are continuing to work on ongoing lessons that require focus, collaboration, and critical thinking. Having their basic needs met allows them to fully participate in these activities and take academic risks with confidence. Moving forward, we will continue building a classroom culture centered on respect, responsibility, and support for one another—something your generosity has helped make possible.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and for helping create a classroom where every student feels cared for and ready to learn. These powerful works have opened doors to cultural curiosity and fostered deeper understanding of diverse perspectives. Our students have been able to explore complex themes of identity, resilience, and empathy in ways that resonate beyond the classroom. Your contribution has directly enriched our curriculum by allowing students to engage with narratives from voices that are often underrepresented. This exposure has sparked meaningful discussions, challenged preconceived notions, and inspired a genuine appreciation for cultural diversity. Thanks to your generosity, our students are developing critical reading and analytical skills, and also growing into compassionate, globally aware individuals. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to supporting education that values cultural understanding. My students wanted to get started right away, so they began reading Hillbilly Elegy during English class, then met after class to start talking about the first two chapters. The students were excited about starting reading The Art of Racing in the Rain because cars and dogs, two of their favorite things, caught their attention. I changed my reading curriculum to accommodate the book rather than the one I originally had planned. They were ready for something new and fresh. Since starting the book, we have had engrossing discussions about what would motivate a writer to write what they do and how the process of writing a book can have a cathartic result. As we progress through the chapters, we are looking forward to have more engrossing discussions; the student have even expressed interest in writing their own memoirs!
