I had so much fun with the unboxing, as teachers had a bit more freedom than usual to stop in and browse the piles that started to accumulate on the desks in the library. When I wrote this project, I had created a wish list of books that we not only needed to match current research projects, but that also fit areas of student interest which lacked representation on our shelves. The fantastic donors of Donors Choose and General Motors have so generously granted our wish and have graced our shelves with some 65 wonderful additions! \r\n\r\nWe have several grade levels and teachers that complete biography projects each year. We are constantly looking for books about the lives of scientists, civil rights leaders, athletes, engineers, and other people that students will find interesting. We also requested many books that will help multiple grade level science teachers as well as our agriculture classes and our growing FFA. The positive impact of having relevant and engaging books will be felt in grades 5 through 8 and in all our core subject areas. \r\n\r\nThank you for your interest in our project and for your most generous donation of books to our middle school library. These titles are not just relevant to our students, but we hope that they will intrigue and inspire our readers far more than anything we had on our shelves previously.","fullyFundedDate":1777973775177,"projectUrl":"project/spark-interest-and-curiosity-in-our-rese/10191501/","projectTitle":"Spark Interest and Curiosity in our Researchers!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Conti","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7174580_orig.jpg?crop=517,517,x0,y13&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1616424905216","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lconti"},{"teacherId":7174580,"projectId":10238558,"letterContent":"We cannot thank you enough for showing interest in our story and caring for our students enough to offer your generous donation! I had the books from this DC project prepared and displayed around the library and the students could barely wait to check them out! The books in this wish list were a wonderful sampling of in-demand fiction and nonfiction books. We had to put a few books on reserve for a research project that the eighth grade starts the year with; some students had to put their excitement on hold for a couple of weeks. But they were easily intrigued by other great new titles.\r\n\r\nThis particular group of books hit several topics that are covered in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade research projects. Our hope is that these titles don't just help students research, but that they also inspire them to keep their inquiries going and spark new curiosities. Five of our eighth grade students came back to the library after their research papers were completed to check out the books they had discovered so they could keep reading about the topic. I think that is proof of the power your generosity and donations have had on our readers here.\r\n\r\nThank you for your unwavering support in getting our library back up to date and stocked with books that keep our kids wanting to read more!
