Because of your support, our shelves are now filled with vibrant stories that reflect our students' backgrounds and bridge two languages. These texts allow us to introduce crucial early literacy skills, such as building cross-lingual vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, and exploring cultural perspectives that validate my students' daily experiences.\r\nReading time has quickly become the most anticipated part of our daily routine. In our classroom, reading looks like a joyful, immersive experience: students sprawl comfortably on the rug with a buddy, sounding out words together in both English and Spanish, or diving deeply into independent reading. You can feel the collective excitement as they turn each page, eager to decode the next sentence or point out a picture that reminds them of home.\r\nThis project has been especially transformative for our English language learners and newcomer students. Seeing books featuring characters who look like them and speak their home language has unlocked a new level of confidence. For instance, a few of my most reluctant readers now light up during reading blocks, proudly reading stories to their peers and realizing that reading is both fun and personal. Thank you for making this magic possible and for giving my students the gift of literacy and representation.","fullyFundedDate":1784224288795,"projectUrl":"project/bilingual-2nd-graders-need-a-classroom-l/10354070/","projectTitle":"Bilingual 2nd-graders Need a Classroom Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mejia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3956695_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1782417294904","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-mejia-bilingual-classroom"},{"teacherId":5517381,"projectId":9250718,"letterContent":"I wanted to take a minute to express my heartfelt thanks for your contributions to our GLOWUP party!
