When the students first saw the fish and aquarium setup, the room immediately filled with excitement, curiosity, and questions. Many students gathered around the tank throughout the day, eager to observe the fish's movements, colors, and behaviors. For some students, this was their first experience caring for a living creature in a classroom setting, making it even more meaningful.\r\n\r\nWe are using the class fish as part of our science lessons on habitats, ecosystems, life cycles, and responsibility. Students take turns helping feed the fish, checking water conditions, and observing behavioral changes. The aquarium has also created a calming and welcoming environment in our classroom. Students often spend quiet moments observing the fish, which has helped support mindfulness, focus, and emotional regulation throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nYour support has provided more than just classroom materials, it has created daily opportunities for curiosity, responsibility, collaboration, and joy. Every year, my students write a letter to their future 12th grade self. I mail these letters along with some other pieces of work from their 8th grade year during the week of their 12th grade graduation. It is a huge help to offset the cost of stamps by having a generous donor like you. \r\nWhen I first asked students to write their letters, they were surprised to hear that they would get it back in four years, but they then really got focused and started writing away. Many of them wrote about what their lives are like now and what they predict it will be like in the future. \r\nI will say from past experience, that the arrival of these letters is met with such delight as I often get emails from them thanking me for taking the time to do this project with them.\r\nIt's a beautiful trip down memory lane.
