Due to some supply issues, it took a little while to receive the kits, and the ones I ended up with were a little different from what I had initially written into my project. I received two magnetic fingerprinting dusting wands, a bottle of orange, fluorescent magnetic fingerprinting powder, two magnetic fingerprinting kits, each of which came with a magnetic dusting wand, and some Kimwipes. \r\n\r\nHowever, despite the changes, these kits are perfectly suited to our needs and will be greatly appreciated by my classes. We tested them out by applying a handprint and thumbprint to a doorknob and then dusting it. The students were EXTREMELY excited that the dusting powder was orange, fluorescent, and magnetic. They were able to lift both a thumbprint and a palm print from the doorknob to their immense joy and pride. They spent some time examining both with the fluorescent light and exclaiming over how well they could see the details. Thank you for bringing this forensic technique to life for my students. \r\n\r\nI look forward to using the kits again soon. I hope to create a mystery series for my students where they must apply several techniques we learned in class to solve crimes. I would like to split them into teams and have each team specialize in one technique per crime, so that all students can practice each technique. Then, they would have to pool their information and try to narrow down the list of suspects, which I will ask other teachers to play. \r\n\r\nIn the meantime, as I work to develop the mystery series, my classes will certainly be practicing their fingerprinting skills with the kits you provided. Thank you so very much for your generosity to our STEM program and for making a difference in the lives of my wonderful, deserving students. It means so much to all of us. On a personal note, this is my first year back in a classroom and having this support has been very empowering for me. I appreciate each of you and the kindness that you showed us.","fullyFundedDate":1764635948257,"projectUrl":"project/please-help-me-provide-my-students-with/9860728/","projectTitle":"Please Help Me Provide My Students With a Fingerprint Kit","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dewan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7502574_orig.jpg?crop=242,242,x0,y25&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761419430207","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7502574"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62577","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":793,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":62577,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Swift Creek Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Swift Creek Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/leon-county-schools/swift-creek-middle-school/62577"}
