The students were so curious when they saw the boxes arrive. Their curiosity peaked when I displayed the multitude of books that had been donated. Excitement grew once I explained our March Madness Book Competition and the reading took off....they didn't want to put the books down. \r\n This year our district adopted a new reading program. Although the program has a lot of positive qualities and we are seeing nice results, one thing was missing....books and lots and lots of reading! Our students LOVE reading and we were finding very little time or opportunity for the students to get their hands on books. Thanks to your donation, our students are now reading....for fun! They are excited to read as many books as they can as they wait to see which book will make it to the final.\r\n Doing this project has also sparked the curiosity of the neighboring classroom. My plan is to put our bracket of books in a central location and share the books you all provided. Your donation not only touched our class, but other classes as well. Thank you once again for being part of our reading competition, I couldn't have done it without you!","fullyFundedDate":1740342587173,"projectUrl":"project/march-madness-book-competition-fueling/9120449/","projectTitle":"March Madness Book Competition: Fueling a Love for Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hosek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9926988"},{"teacherId":3393759,"projectId":8578058,"letterContent":"This project has helped my students access educational materials in hands-on ways. Students across grade levels have loved playing with the magnatiles and magnets. \r\n\r\nThe wh- question flip book has been instrumental in facilitating conversation with shyer students and those who struggle to think of topics for small-talk. In addition, you provided my students with prizes for when they completed a reading level that helped incentivize them to push themselves to be better readers.
