Because of your kindness and willingness to invest in our students, what was once an idea has become a meaningful learning experience that will benefit children for years to come.\r\n\r\nYour donation has provided our students with opportunities that go far beyond the walls of our classroom. The Hammack Garden has become an outdoor learning space where students can explore science, math, reading, and real-world problem-solving in a hands-on environment. The excitement on their faces as they plant seeds, water flowers, observe growth, and care for living plants has been truly incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nMany of our students have never had the opportunity to grow a plant from seed or learn firsthand where food and flowers come from. Through the garden, they are developing a deeper understanding of nature, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. They are learning that growth takes patience, hard work, and consistent care—valuable lessons that extend well beyond gardening.\r\n\r\nThe garden has also created countless opportunities for cross-curricular learning. Students measure plant growth and collect data during math lessons. They observe life cycles and ecosystems during science instruction. They write journal entries, informational pieces, and reflections about their experiences in the garden during language arts. The Hammack Garden has become a living classroom where learning is active, engaging, and memorable.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding aspects of this project has been watching students take ownership of the garden. They eagerly volunteer to help maintain it and take pride in seeing the results of their hard work. They celebrate every new bloom, every sprouting seed, and every sign of growth. These moments help build confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your generosity extends beyond academics. The garden provides students with a peaceful outdoor space where they can connect with nature and experience the joy that comes from nurturing something and watching it thrive. In today's fast-paced world, these opportunities are more important than ever. The garden encourages curiosity, creativity, and mindfulness while helping students develop a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.\r\n\r\nOur school community is incredibly grateful for donors like you who believe in supporting education and creating meaningful experiences for children. Your contribution has provided resources and opportunities that our students may not have otherwise experienced. Because of you, they are learning valuable life skills, making real-world connections, and creating memories that will stay with them long after they leave second grade.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their future. Your generosity has made a lasting difference in our classroom and throughout our school. Every time our students step into the Hammack Garden, they are reminded that there are caring individuals who support their learning and want them to succeed.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping our Hammack Garden grow. We are excited to continue learning, exploring, and flourishing because of your generosity.\r\n\r\nWith sincere gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1746461921970,"projectUrl":"project/ses-hammock-garden/9267663/","projectTitle":"SES Hammock Garden","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Blair","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7631512_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771775519339","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7631512"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14400","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":943,"numTeachers":57,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":85,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":76.4,"schoolId":14400,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sumrall Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sumrall Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/lamar-county-school-district/sumrall-elementary-school/14400"}
