Instead of sitting quietly at their desks waiting for me to confirm whether they are right or wrong, students now work together in small groups to solve challenging problems while standing at the boards. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students tackle a multi-step fraction problem. Rather than asking me for the answer, they debated different strategies, tested their thinking, erased mistakes, and built on one another's ideas until they reached a solution. The whiteboards have encouraged productive struggle, meaningful discussion, and much greater student confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the whiteboards, they were immediately excited. They loved getting out of their seats and working in teams, and the simple act of writing on a large vertical surface made math feel more engaging and less intimidating. Even students who are typically hesitant to participate became more willing to share their thinking because mistakes could easily be erased and corrected together. The collaborative environment has helped every student feel like their ideas matter.\r\n\r\nAs we continue using these resources, students will take on increasingly complex problem-solving tasks that require them to justify their reasoning, compare multiple solution strategies, and communicate their mathematical thinking to their classmates. My goal is to continue building a classroom where students learn from one another, persevere through challenges, and develop the confidence to think like mathematicians.
