These books have become such an important part of our classroom because they give students meaningful opportunities to practice the phonics skills they are learning each day. As we focus on letter sounds, blends, digraphs, and sight words, decodable books provide targeted reading practice that matches those skills. This has helped my students feel more successful because they are able to apply what they have learned and decode words on their own. Instead of feeling frustrated by difficult text, they are building confidence as they experience success. Watching their excitement grow when they realize they can read independently has been one of the most rewarding parts of teaching. Their confidence has strengthened, and they are becoming more motivated readers each day.\r\n\r\nI also love having enough decodable books for each student to have their own copy during small group instruction. This allows every child to stay actively engaged by pointing to words, practicing sounds, and tracking print as they read. Having their own book helps students stay focused while strengthening important reading skills like one-to-one correspondence and decoding. During our small groups, I can hear students using the strategies we practice, sounding out words, and blending sounds with greater independence. Over time, I have watched my students grow from hesitant readers into more confident, capable learners who are excited to read. Decodable books have not only improved their reading skills but have also helped create a classroom filled with confidence, growth, and a love for reading.","fullyFundedDate":1744060490572,"projectUrl":"project/we-love-to-read/9220412/","projectTitle":"We Love to Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schwartz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsschwartz1"},{"teacherId":6645394,"projectId":9456708,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for financing our writing materials. Your generosity has already made a noticeable difference in our learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe wobble chairs give my students the ability to move in a safe, productive way while still focusing on their work. Many of my students find it difficult to sit still for long periods, and these chairs allow them to release energy without becoming distracted or disruptive. Since we received them, I've seen an increase in student engagement, longer attention spans during lessons, and greater comfort during independent work time.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, these chairs have also built a sense of excitement and ownership in the classroom. Students are eager to use them, and they feel proud that their learning space is designed to meet their needs.\r\n\r\nYour gift doesn't just provide furniture—it creates a supportive and flexible environment where students can thrive.
